Unfortunate experience
Nebula did not provide me with any reporting after 4 months and were unable to explain what happened to my DNA. A complete waste of time and money. In the end, they just ignored me.

More accurate and detailed than Ancestry DNA, including illnesses.
I previously used Ancestry DNA so I'm comparing this kit to that. The kit comes nicely packed. You first have to register online. Then you simply swap the insides of your cheek for 60 seconds for DNA sample and mail it in the pre-paid envelope. They advise turn around time to be about 12 weeks. But I received an email notification within about 3 weeks saying my results were ready. This is about the same turn around time for Ancestry DNA. You review your results online. I was amazed by the details compared to Ancestry DNA. This kit an idea of locations my ancestry originated from, like Ancestry DNA. However, it also included probability of certain illnesses according to my DNA, sometime which isn't even an option with Ancestry DNA. I find this feature very useful because I can predict which diseases I might get and try to avoid them by controlling factors I can like dieting and or smoking or drinking. I won't get into the details of my results as they are personal. But note that everyone is different and this feature along could help you live a more healthy and longer life! Overall, this kit although extremely pricy at $450 per this review, I think it's worth it in predicting health issues, something that Ancestry DNA cannot at any price. But then again, Ancestry DNA is $59 to $69 and is more affordable. I think this should be priced around $2-300 at the most. I still recommend this, but because of the very high price, I'm giving this 4 stars.

Simple to use, but unable to upgrade to get accurate results.
I have a rare health condition, and finding out more about my genetic variants got me so excited when I was offered this kit. My excitement was short-lived. This Basic Genetic Test Kit by Nebula Genomics comes very plainly packaged and is simple to use. You use the provided swab, and you only get one, to swab your cheek for 60 seconds to get your sample. It would have been nice to get an extra swab, just in case you accidentally dropped, or contaminated the first one. Nonetheless, it is easy to do. It comes with a small vial of fluid with only a sticker that has your kit number on it. I assume the fluid is a preservative. You need to break the swab off into the vial after getting your sample. No need to worry about it breaking in the wrong place, as long as you have it placed all the way in. You then put the top back on the vial, place it in the provided clear zip top bag, and then into the included pre-paid envelope. They state that the zip top bag is a biohazard bag, but it is in no way marked as biohazard, as it should be. My pre-paid envelope tracking number also said it had expired when I put it into the USPS tracking search bar. Hopefully, my sample will get into good hands, provided the carrier takes it. I would have liked the option to pay to upgrade my kit to get the highly accurate results from the more expensive kit, but that was refused. You can upload your data from 23&me, or another such company, and pay for an upgrade, but for me, it was not an option. Per the description, this kit only generates medium accuracy of DNA sequencing and reports. Medium accuracy is not acceptable for the cost and trust the company wants you to give them with your purchase. It will take about 3 months to get my results. They state it could be longer due to possible Covid issues. This is the longest wait for results for any company I've researched. It will be a long and tough wait. If I were to choose a company for this type of service, I think I would likely choose Tellmegen, as they offer lots of information regarding your health. Actually, more, and better accuracy, than this test gives, from my research and recommendations from a few family members. I was in the market for a kit before being offered this kit, and because I am unable to upgrade, I will likely use that money to purchase that one. All in all, I will take the medium accuracy results I get from this kit with a grain of salt. On their website, at the time of this review, this kit is much less expensive, as is the Deep Genetic Kit offered here, that guarantees a high accuracy of DNA sequencing and reports. In my opinion, it is not worth the expense for this kit to just get somewhat accurate results., which I will come back and share whenever I receive them.

Scam
I never received my results. Reached out to them many times and tried to resolve with no luck. Completely stole my money.

Results were in after about 3 weeks. Wide range of results - Includes Lifetime of updates
My start with this Nebula Genomics gene test started out a little rocky but offered results that were anything but basic! Just swab your cheek and send in the sample. When you register your kit online, the page will tell you that it will take 12 weeks for results. Nonsense. After just two weeks, I received an email that my results were ready. However... not all results were in and it looked like a technical glitch displaying my results. I contacted tech support via their website, without letting them know I was going to review the kit, and they handled it beautifully. They stayed in touch to let me know the progress of researching my problem. Exactly one week later, all of my results were in. 299 (and growing) results in my genetic library, along with the ancestry, traits, and oral microbiome results already visible to me the week prior. Results are sortable and searchable. These results will increase with time. Your purchase includes a lifetime membership so you'll always receive the latest results. My ancestry showed a basic range of countries my ancestors probably came from. This matched up with my results from ancestry DNA testing I've done in the past. Deep ancestry results will be available with the Nebula DEEP kit. My oral microbiome showed a few things that concerned me, suggesting potential issues with my pancreas. I happened to see my gastroenterologist that same week and asked her about it. She said I should take it with a grain of salt. It's still something I'll park in the back of my mind, though. I found the basic info on Traits to be hit or miss, but not very interesting. Hair thickness, body height, pain sensitivity, etc. Most traits displayed my results as average. The 299 genetic results in my library are just the start. They update and add new results over time as they test for other things. These show results as percentiles. Example: I'm in the 35th percentile for developing tinnitus which they describe as below average. Still, I actually do have tinnitus. These are not diagnoses. They are just trends, which is important to keep in mind. The report says I'm genetically predisposed to higher LDL levels and that's true for me, according to my doctor. You can sort the results by highest percentiles to lowest, or in reverse. You can also sort by date added so you can see the latest additions to our profiles. Want to know specific results? Search by category such as heart, eyes, etc, to pull up all related results. My doctor recently asked if I have used one of the genetic tests and if so, to comb through them. We've been trying to pin down some unusual symptoms I've had for many years that a multitude of tests have not helped. Doctors find value in these tests so it's not just for an interesting topic over a family dinner. I'm happy with this test and look forward to following my reports. My only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be a way to upgrade to a more extensive kit without paying full price instead of an upgrade fee.

Super detailed results in a few of weeks
I didn't know what to expect from a DNA test like the Basic Genetic Test Kit by Nebula Genomics. I sent my sample in thinking that it would be interesting to see information about my lineage and maybe find out that I'm part European or something. What I got back after a three-week wait was a detailed report about not just my genetics but also my genetic predisposition to certain diseases. It's an interesting look into a part of me that I wouldn't have known without doing a test like this. I think that it will help me to make informed decisions about my approach to my health and things to screen for when I visit my doctor. Overall, while this information won't change the way I live, it can help me to know what to watch out for when doing my yearly physical.

Easy to use but, up to 12 weeks for results…?
I was so excited when I saw this was available and had to have it! I received this package quickly after ordering. The instructions are super easy to follow when it comes to doing the swabbing for at least 60 secs on the inside of cheek & registering a new account on their website! There are some cons though I’d like to address. You Only get One Bucks Swab in the package. Itd be great if they included at least 2 just as a backup. Also, I believe it says 12 weeks until results are available…? Now, I have never done any kind of DNA testing ever in my life but, I believe their are several companies who do it like this company and results can be obtained from many of those other companies, much faster than 12 weeks? I could be wrong…but, I don’t think so. 12 weeks is an awfully long time to get basic DNA results in my opinion. I mailed my buccal swab out just yesterday so…we will see what happens in 12 weeks. As of now, I can’t say I’d recommend this kit only because the price is pretty high for the time you have to wait alone, in my opinion. I used to work for a DNA company years back. I’m not sure of the costs now but, I know to have a Professional Genetic DNA test done with them was anywhere from $200-350. And, they had results in 1-5 days depending on whether the patient paid on expedited results or not?? 5 days isn’t long to wait and to also have 100% accurate results from a Professional doing your swab and testing. So, it may be worth it to pay the extra money with a DNA Center-Depending what you are taking the test for of course.
