Genuine Arkansas Soft (Medium) Wide Knife Sharpening Bench Stone Whetstone 8" x 3" x 1/2" in Wood Box MAB-832-C

The stone is excellent and easy to use specifically the size 8x3 is very comfortable having longer strokes during sharpening. Concerning the package as you can see the upper lid of the wooden box, suffered a hit at the corner, probably due to bad handling. Anyhow the stone arrived in tact. I think a second bubble envelope would secure the stone better.

Solid soft Arkansas with plenty of space for larger kitchen knives. Works great for plain steels under 60 HRC. Ok for kitchen knives 60-64 HRC. Just a little slow on harder carbon steels. Would not recommend if you are sharpening high carbide steels (s110v, hap40, magnacut, cruwear…) really anything with more than a few percent vanadium is too much for an Arkansas stone. You will also need something coarser if you are planning on any major repairs or reprofiling in a reasonable time frame.

I tested this stone today just following their written simple instructions, use a quality honing oil and keep a 20 degree angle as you sweep the blade across the stone. I obtained a razor sharp cutting edge on an old kitchen knife, having eight inches of length gives one lots of room for large knives. Amazon was quick to process my order, and seller Prime Tools had it in my hands in just a few days.

I have been very pleased with how this stone finishes the edge on my chisels and plane blades. The extra wide size accommodates the widest planes I have. I like the wood box the stone came in, it keeps it clean and ready to use.

It's a Dan's whetstone! Nothing better...and Taylor Tools are an outstanding company with a well deserved record....I use this stone for sharpening chisels and planes exclusively. Have purchased others from this dealer that I use for knives.

This stone is great, starts cutting quickly. Very pleased, a must have for people who sharpen themselves.

My husband loves his sharpening stones, Arkansas has the best!
