Followup review: Product failed within one year. Battery will no longer fully charge. Have to remove iphone to charge case as case discharges iphone while charging. Do not recommend. Old review: Works as advertised. High quality. Excellent feel. Well engineered. Slightly weighty. Charges iphone battery first before charging its 6500 mah battery. Only noticeable difference is iphone 14 pro charges slower. Battery arrived fully charged. Very impressed. Works with iOS 17. Update! Product not supported by iOS18.1

I used to love the brand and have used these charges with my last 3 phones (including my current iPhone) but their quality has seriously tanked. I’ve had my current phone for almost 2 years and I’m on my 5th case due to the charging port constantly braking. One of them ruined the charger when at least 6 of the gold pin contacts broke off while plugging it in and the other 4 had pieces of the plastic around the charging port break off. Both my current case and the one I had before didn’t even last a month before they broke. And when I tried to contact their customer service via email I got nothing but crickets and when I contacted them about the one that had the contacts break off I was told that I must have done something to break it and they refused to cover it under warranty. They say it’s a one year warranty but then either refuse to cover it or just refuse to reply to customer service emails.

I have used similar battery case products from Alpatronix before for previous generations of iPhone that I have owned. The iPhone 14 Pro does have somewhat longer battery life than the previous iPhone 12 Pro that I owned and I appreciate that improvement from Apple. That said, I use my smartphone continuously and heavily throughout the day for streaming audio and video, business phone calls, business video calls, teaching at a major university, countless apps that I use to manage personal issues, business and leisure travel, photography and recording video. All of that sometimes causes me to travel across time zones where my smartphone needs to remain up and running for all of a 24-hour day or longer. If any of you attend some of the major theme parks it is all but impossible to get through a day without extensive use of their app. Battery life is a major issue for me. It is not always possible to plug the phone in to recharge it. Carrying power banks and cables just adds to the list of items I have to carry around. I find these cases to be a good solution for this problem. I can easily keep my phone functioning for a day or two while at the same time providing protection for the phone using the case. I have found the Alpatronix products to be high quality. They perform as advertised charging my phone when needed and surrounding it with a high quality case that protects it and which allows me to hold the phone in a firm grip without dropping it. The case fits the phone well and does not interfere with the screen protector or the third party lens protector that I have over the camera lenses. The addition of wireless charging adds to the utility of the case and works well with the charging stand I use for my phone, watch and headphones. The utility does have a cost in the form of somewhat increased weight, and added thickness due to the additional battery in the case. I find these to be reasonable tradeoffs for the benefits.

My phone was draining battery after downloading iOS 17.2. The iPhones is known for their poor battery life compared to other phones. Now I need access to chargers everywhere I go. I was carrying 3 chargers. I bought this case because I’ve used them in the past and I’ve been very happy with them. Mophie was the go to case until Zagg bought Mophie. I was never able to get tech support from Zagg but Alphatronix has outstanding customer service and they stand behind their product. They don’t use Zen Desk where there’s a phone number that is never answered and the only customer service you can get is a bunch of FAQ. One of the things I look for is a well packaged item. Their packaging is like the box my iPhone came in so there’s no need to pull out scissors or a box knife to open the cheaply packaged case. You won’t be spending time trying to peel the stickers off this case. The quality of the packaging speaks volumes. When I crossed Mophie off my list, I decided to try Alphatronix. That was years ago and I’m still buying their cases. I’ve seen Buyers complain about how difficult it is to get their phone in and out of the case. It’s not difficult at all! It’ll take you 5 seconds or less to put the case on and take it off. This case is solid, protective and it works. Obviously, it’s going to be bigger than other cases because it has a battery! I’ve had many Alphatronix cases over the years and I’ve been very happy with their cases. They still charge wirelessly and the case and phone are charged via lightning pin. If your battery is draining quickly, get one of these!

I hated this after a month. The plug in to the phone is not designed well, does not connect well, and does not charge well. I finally figured it out and can charge it but not use the phone at the same time🙁. Not optimal but it worked. Then something amazing happened. I dropped it in the lake but got it out quickly. (20 seconds) I took the battery pack off quickly - there was no water in my phone! Absolutely no water side effects (I can’t promise this but it worked for me). The bonus was two days later the e battery pack dried out and started working. So we’re back to our status quo - I plug it in a certain way and don’t touch it and it charges. Life is good.

I have had the case for less than a week and it stopped charging and it stops the phone from charging also. I hope the company can make this right.
