Shooter's Choice Shooting Bag Fill (14lbs)

These rubber pellets are great for shooting bag fill. Was surprised how much or the volume of pellets that arrived. I was able to completely fill my front and rear shooting bags, with enough left over to refill or fill another set as needed. Will defintely buy again! Works great, good value.

These pellets are great for shooting bags. We used to use lead shot, but these are 10 times better, lighter, they stay in the bags. The bags mold well around the rifle. These are great and I will fill other shooting bags with them.

I bought this after purchasing some Norma shooting bags under the impression that they were prefilled. I bought this shooting bag fill because it was the most cost-effective to ensure I could fill all three of the bags that it came with. In fact, after filling all three of the bags, I still had enough for one more larger bag. I only do recreational shooting, so I don’t know if this will be ideal for professionals or not. The box that it came in is 13.5” X 7.5” X 10”. It comes in a burlap bag that is tied shut. The product has a considerable odor that smells like brand new tires. It is a bit pungent, so if you are adverse to strong smells, this may not work for you. The granules are relatively small and you could probably fit 8–10 on a penny. They are rubber-like which might be a con as I originally tried to fill the bags using an oil funnel. The granules got stuck at the bottom and I couldn’t pour through the funnel. I ended up using a piece of cardboard that came in the box to ensure you don’t cut the bag open when opening with a razor blade. I then use the funnel as a scoop and put my finger over the bottom hole to ensure nothing came out and filled all of the bags. The rubber like material made it difficult to settle, so I would fill it all the way up to the Velcro of the opening, seal the Velcro and shake it violently until the bag settled. Then I would open the Velcro and continue to add more until I was happy with the fill quantity. Overall, I am happy with the purchase as it was the least expensive way to solve a problem I created for myself. I rated it four out of five as there were a number of cons to it. I have three other pre-filled bags, so these will just work in tandem with those. I don’t have a one for one comparison in bag sizes so I can’t tell if this material is lighter by a lot or lighter by just a little, but it is lighter than the pre-filled ones that are slightly smaller. Pros: Price per quantity, had leftover to do another large bag. Cons: smell, somewhat “sticky”, not “easy” to fill the bag (doesn’t settle easy)

I just received the bags, they come empty so I purchased the rubber based shooting bag filler rather than using wet sand or light plastic beads. I found it was helpful to have a small scoop to assist with the fill process, with the scoop it takes 5-10 minutes and you are good to go. After filling with this material all 3 bags together weigh in at 9.5 lbs. I have not used the bags, but based so far the initial quality is very good. The material is thick and stitching is good. Also, there is double Velcro on each fill opening which should prevent any loss of fill material. I am expecting to get many years of use out of these bags.

Not great for precision stability. I suppose I didn't really consider it, but this didn't work for a stable shooting bag since the rubber pellets make for a bouncy rest even with a very heavy rifle. It's heavy, but aquarium sand seems to work best. Still haven't found a great lighter weight alternative that isn't expensive. I may try this in a pump pillow. Otherwise, if you are looking for a rubber fill, this is exactly what you will get. No complaints on that. Just know what result you're going to have.
