An amazing kitchen tool, worth the cost and storage space.
I recently had shoulder surgery and Iโm making the pies for Thanksgiving, so I needed some help with apple peeling. I am completely impressed with this mechanical peeler/slicer/corer! I feel like I traveled back in time to my Grandmotherโs kitchen, she had few kitchen gadgets but the ones she did have were well worth the shelf space, this is similar to hers and the device does an amazing job.Itโs straight forward to assemble although I did watch the video. It peeled to a thin thickness and then sliced perfectly. It does take a bit of strength to put the apple onto and then remove it from the โforkโ.

This is the only suction apple peeler that actually stays in place on kitchen counter.
I made apple pie and used 10 small apples. It was very fast to peel, core and slice the apples. It is sturdy and well-made. Go ahead and rinse it off if you are not going to wash it after use - your clean-up will be easy! It came with extra blades and an extra corer. I was impressed by this because I have had other products that were similar and did not include any replacement pieces. It was easy to assemble and very easy to use. It also make any apple dish very fast to prepare. Out of the other brands I have tried, this one is the best!! Watch the video on it -- all of it is VERY accurate and impressive!

Which review will you go by?
For all those who have claimed this product to be โnot goodโ or said โdonโt waste your moneyโ... let me just clarify one thing for them: READ AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS and if thatโs not helping watch the video on the Vittorio website before dissing a product. I did, and it works great and as promised! The very first thing I did after assembling and making sure I did everything correctly, is peeled, sliced and cored 30 pounds of Granny Smith apples and 50 pounds Of MacIntosh apples...ALL IN ONE SITTING. Not once did it bind, stop or gouge like reviewers have said. The trick is to look through the eye of the cutting blade as you push your lopsided Apple onto the prongs. This ensures that the core will be cut out without leaving pits in the apples. As for bruise flesh? Donโt turn the handle so slow as to get the blade caught in it and cause a gouge/bind. All my apples werenโt symmetrical, or perfect. I found that adjusting the peeling blade (on the peeling arm) to remove the thinnest peel possible and turning the handle fast got all my apples done in 28 minutes! Not one glitch or hitch. So, with all that said, donโt listen to those who donโt follow instructions/directions...youโll miss out on a great and well fabricated product.Moral to my review: Do you want to hitch a ride with a driver who refuses to ask for directions/read a map or do you want a to get in the car of a driver who follows directions and reads a map?

A quality apple peeler, corer, slicer.
Although this peeler was a bit pricey, it was well worth the cost. I had been using my old one for thirty-five years and it just couldnโt do the job any more. This one easily suctioned to my counter and didnโt move at all while I was using it. The blades are sharp and I was able to peel, core, and slice each apple in about thirty seconds! I am so glad I tossed my old one and purchased this new one. It is very sturdy and came with extra blades and clear instructions. I see more apple pie in my future!

Very sturdy and efficient
This guy works great once you look at the video indicated in the instructions. It is not intuitive to put together but seeing the online video made it easy. Works really well. I was able to peel, slice and core 40 pounds of apples in an hour and a half.

Works Great - Worth the Investment
We have several apple trees on our property so every fall I am peeling and coring apples to make applesauce. I had an inexpensive guizmo similar to this one, and it was extremely frustrating to use. So, after fighting it once again this fall, I finally thought, "No More!!", and I sat down at my computer, scanned through what was available on Amazon, and decided to invest in what appeared to be a good one, and IT IS!!! I am extremely pleased! It secures nicely to the counter top - never once did it let go. The blade that cuts and cores the apples stays in place throughout the process. It is well-made, and I love it!! I smiled when I read a review in which one owner was disgusted at the antique design of this style. Well, this design is tried and true and, yes, it has been around for a long time because it works ... that is, if you invest in a good one, like this one.

Quality item
This is the best I've seen. My old one I got from Pampered Chef is frustrating because it won't work if your apples are soft or not perfectly round. This one has worked flawlessly on any apples I've used. The suction cup doesn't hold to my table because it's not very smooth so I attach it to the inside of a glass baking dish before using it. It holds well and solves another problem. All the mess is now contained in the dish and the table doesn't get messy anymore!

Brings peeling apples and potatoes to a new level
I really like the solid construction and the extra blades. I also appreciated how the instruction booklet points out how to avoid pitfalls. Adjusting the tool is simple but necessary. It will avoid damaging the tool.I use mine for apples and potatoes because I really enjoy both meat and fruit pirozhkies. I have arthritis in my left hand hence this process is considerably less painful and much faster.. Cleanup is easy and common sense will prevent injury.Oh yes, the suction cup: per the booklet, it will not affix to either a porous surface or a silicone mat. Cleaning both the suction cup and your mating surface with a mild degreaser (Dawn dishwashing liquid is best) and warm water will ensure a firm grip. Make sure the surfaces are rinsed and dry before mounting the tool.I am going to experiment with a rutabaga peel. Good luck and bon appรฉtit

Solid Machine
I have owned probably around 10 apple peeler cores in he last 20 years. I eat a lot of apples. So, on average, they last about two years. I have only had this one about two months, so I cannot comment on its longevity. However, so far I am impressed with the Johnny Apple Peeler. It is sturdy, the frame is cast iron, as in the past I have purchased peels that were pressed aluminium (yes, aluminium), but advertised as cast iron. The suction base works well, sometimes almost too well as it can be hard to remove. It does a good job of coring and slicing, which is how I generally prepare eating apples. I have used it once to peel and it was okay. Peeling is always fiddly with these machines. In conclusion, after two months, I am pleased with this item. I hope that I am still pleased with it after two years.

Works great, as expected!
This thing works slick! I had purchased another peeler (not on amazon) and it was a piece of junk compared to this one. This one just speaks of quality in my opinion. You can zip through many apples in no time flat. I tried to peel a couple of potatoes and it does work, but you kind of need to select fairly uniform shaped potatoes. Suction base on this is great. I did about 35 apples in one shot and the suction did not break. Also comes with spare replacement core blade and 2 replacement peeling blades. Although it was a bit on the expensive side compared to others, I trusted other reviews and I am very happy with my purchase!
