Guardian: Zhen Hun (Novel) Vol. 1

Beautifully written, emotional, and full of mystery. After watching the series, reading the book made the world and characters feel even richer. I loved every moment.

Very interesting supernatural love story.

A fun urban fantasy/gay romance steeped in Chinese folklore and mythology. It is full of secret identity shenanigans, action, and humor, with our couple exemplifying the Platonic ideals of Yearning and Thirst. Have you ever seen a man ask pretty you could cry? Ask these two men how it feels!

This is the first Danmei I’ve read that I’ve been captivated by the backstory, that the history and details weren’t boring to me, in pursuit of the romance. Each character had a purpose (yes, even Guo Changcheng) and it was such a well thought out story. There was action, romance, comedy, a cute cat - what more could you ask for?! Definitely continuing this series and following priest, their writing was awesome!

I was slightly doubtful for the first five pages, but after that I was hooked. The characters are so much more than they first appear, and their relationships are deep and sometimes difficult. There's a lot of intriguing mystery and fascinating glimpses into Chinese folklore and beliefs. I was sad when it ended, not just for the difficulties the two main characters faced, but because I was truly enjoying the book. The next book in the series is coming out in three months and I am going to pre-order it today. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys unique and complex romance.

I love this story so much and I am incredibly happy to finally be able to read the books with the official translation. I found this thanks to the web series which in my opinion was amazing even though it was a bromance. Since the series came out I have been a fan. I love the characters very much. They are so well written!! By the way, Shen Wei is the love of my life(≧∀≦)

Definitely a good read love to see some bi sexual representation in a danmei book. The main couple is also down bad for each other and are very cute about it.

I just finished reading book 1, and I absolutely loved it. I love the story so far, and the characters are fun. Those of you that like the supernatural will like this, (although it isn’t scary). And Seven Seas put out yet another quality product! I can’t wait for book 2 to be released so it too can be added to my ever-expanding collection of danmei!

Every revelation feels carefully placed, and the slow unfolding of the larger mystery keeps you constantly wanting “just one more chapter.” What truly makes this novel shine is the dynamic between the main characters. Their chemistry is subtle yet powerful, filled with tension, loyalty, and unspoken emotion that builds beautifully throughout the story. The world-building is rich without being overwhelming, and the author does an incredible job weaving mythology and modern elements together seamlessly. And I have to talk about the cover — it is genuinely one of my favorite danmei covers ever. The artwork perfectly captures the atmosphere of the story: dark, elegant, and mysterious. The design feels meaningful and polished, and it looks absolutely stunning displayed on a shelf. As a collector, this edition feels extra special. If you love supernatural mysteries with deep characters and emotional storytelling, this volume is a must-read. I cannot wait to continue the series.

L'histoire est superbe. Pas de description de scène intime qui ne plaît pas à beaucoup d'entre nous. Juste une belle histoire qui se forme dans ce premier livre. La suite est tout aussi enivrante et cette relation devient captivante sans avoir de description de scene de sex qui changerai complètement le style chinois du BL. Magnifique !!
