Update: On a hiking trip last year I tripped and landed on my face/sunglasses. I've been trying to repair my favote prescription shades with super glue and baking soda, and it's kind of worked. Yesterday I used this welding kit and a squiggly staple to fix the break. Then I sanded and polished the rough edge. Perfect! Earlier Post: I recently cracked the cover of my drum composter. When I reached out to the Canadian manufacturer , I was told a new door was $15 but with taxes, shipping and the U.S. tariffs it would cost $60. The composter cost $100, so I declined. This plastic welder kit cost me $20, and with the screen and flattening tips I bought, it was $28. I honestly wish I had taken before and after pictures, but I rarely think of these things in advance, so you'll just have to take my word. The process was easy, and the result is a smooth, strong repair. This kit will get a lot of use.

Someone broke a piece of the rear-right fender off of our UTV at work ( A Kubota RTV500 ). I saved the piece, and bought this tool to see if I could fix it. One tiny triangular chunk was lost for good, but, I did manage to try this tool for the first time. I had never used a tool like this before, and was unsure of it. All I could think was, "This is going to be one of those, "NAILED IT!" before and after shots, I know it" Because I didn't believe the tool would work so well for being so inexpensive. Again, I have NEVER done this kind of repair before with a tool like this at all. It was so simple and easy to use... I was, very impressed. For a first time ever touching this type of tool, I think it came out really well. I have included the photos I took while doing the work, and it only took me about 25-30 minutes, literally did this on my lunch break at work... I recommend watching a youtube video on this tools operation, to be sure it is something you think you can do. Also, here is a tip, press the "staple" against the plastic first and pull the trigger, don't just heat it up in the air n stick it in there. The tool heats up fast, but not too fast to use properly. This wattage, (150W) is PERFECT. Any less and it would have been super slow and annoying to use, any MORE and it would be TOO fast to use. Once you get the ends snipped off (I used flush cutters because the wire cutters it comes with leave WAY too much of the staple sticking out) then I hit the ends with a grinding stone on a Dremel tool and it was fine, I didn't have sand paper to make it look pretty but despite this, it came out rather well for a first time ever use. If you have an ATV, or any vehicle that has a broken bumper, rather than frankenstein-ing it with pop rivets a sheet of metal, or epoxy, or plastic adhesives, TRY THIS. This tool sets hot wire into the material, LOCKING it in place, and once you smooth it over with the flat spatula end, (Which you can bend to a usable curve shape or any shape you need it comes with TWO of them) you will be able to make the repair, solid, and look fairly okay for what it is. I am CERTAIN with a couple uses, you will become REALLY good at it and it will look better than my poopie job depicted in the photos. I am not saying I want more broken things to fix, but really this was FUN to use, like a little craft project that took only 20 minutes. So the next time something plastic DOES break, this is going to be my go to tool of choice. 100%

I am just getting a chance to actually use it for different things, but I had a few plastic totes I had cracked around the corner and handle, but I try to fix it with this, and so far so good I was really impressed with how fast it heats up and cools down, within a few seconds it was hot enough for the staples to sink in the plastic and it's just as strong as it was before, but be careful not to melt thru the plastic and after cutting the stems of the staples be careful of the sharp points, but I am new to this, but you do get some strips of plastic to probably fix this issue, but it seems to be a good product, the only thing I wish was different was the case is open style, and don't have dividers for holding everything in place.

This tool is great. I wish I'd had one years ago. I was intending on making one of these but after seeing how cheap they are, I decided to buy one. I was reluctant considering the price and I wondered if it would have enough power to do the job. However, this is solidly built on the exterior and takes about 2 seconds to melt the plastic.

Great price on a quality kit. Comparable to name brands. Nice variety of staples and gun works great. Literally 3 to 4 seconds to melt in. Nice case to keep everything together and organized.

Looks and feels well made, includes many useful staple types as well as welding tips and rods, heats quickly, and gets the job done. Buying this and quickly repairing two plastic Adirondack style chairs was cheaper than replacing even a single chair, so it already has paid for itself!

We purchased this to repair a fender on an older 4 wheeler. It worked great. You just have to remember not to use it for more than 10 minutes at a time. We highly recommend this product

I bought this to repair my car bumper and assorted broken pieces from the unfortunate “Dukes of Hazzard” incident when I accidentally jumped my car. Fortunately the bumper was only cracked on the underside, although a fairly big chunk was missing along with some mounting tabs. Just to see if I could, I joined some scrap ABS plastic to the polyurethane of the bumper using the supplied wavy staples. I made two mounting tabs as well as a piece to bridge the gap that been torn out. This unit worked quickly and flawlessly. It almost worked too well, you have to be cognizant of the thickness of your piece, I almost burned through on one spot. The supplied staples are good, but it’s impossible to supply a staple for every possible scenario. Luckily some needle nose pliers and careful bending created the right profiles. The repair was nice and solid, we’ll see how long it lasts. Like it says in the manual be careful to leave the gun in place after releasing the trigger, the material needs to set up. Be careful also when clipping the ends of the staples with the provided side cutters, they shoot off at somewhere between the speed of sound and Warp 3. One ricocheted off of my forearm, making a wound that bled profusely. I just rubbed some dirt on it and kept going. It’s already paid for itself. I’m confident that I’ll get allot more use out of it. Oh yeah, when the other reviews say the included case is flimsy and cheap, they aren’t exaggerating. It’s so weak I’ll probably have to use the gun to weld it back together. I’m not sure if that’s a problem or an opportunity?
