I would recommend
No problem with performance here. Can maintain 3A output. Was able to do 3A constant current load even at 5V (says it's good to 8V). Efficiency was around 85% to 91% depending on input and output. At 2A output (for hours), the unit is warm to the touch but not hot. Solid converter that costs a little more than the cheaper ones, but the performance makes it well worth it.

Easy to work with, runs cool
I'm using this to run my network router off of a DIY solar-powered battery backup. The router is designed for a 12V power supply and pulls 13W max. I didn't want to risk the charging voltage of 14.6V frying the router (it would probably be fine, but...) so I have this DC-DC converter hooked to the load terminals of the solar charge controller. The converter runs cool, but then again I'm hardly pushing it. Hookup was easy- I just inserted the stripped ends of one pair into the SCC terminals, and crimped an Anderson connector onto the other. There are mounting holes on the converter, but I just used double-sided foam tape to attach it to the battery box.

Not good for backup camera
Noisy when regulating 14 volts to 12. I got this to regulate the input to a backup camera. It introduced a lot of flicker in the video so, wasnโt appropriate for that application.

Does Not Always Start Up Under Load
[The item received was labelled TOBSUN] I found that this did not start up under a 1.5A load (8 ohm resistor). If the load was already connected at switch-on, it could start up reliably only for loads drawing under 0.75A or so, which is some distance away from the 3A rating. If the source impedance was very low (not the case with most small solar panels), it would do better. To get around this problem, I had to wire a 12V relay across the converter output, so that the converter would turn on the relay, and the relay contacts were used to connect the converter to the load. This adds the coil current of the relay used, to the load current seen by the converter, as well as a small voltage drop across the relay contacts to the load. Most 12V relays draw 30 to 85 mA of coil current, sufficiently low that the converter starts up reliably with this work-around. Remember to install a clamp diode across the relay coil.

Works well
I got this for my husband as he had some lights he wanted to connect. It worked great! He said it was easy to install. It appears to be quality and durable.

Works well
I needed a special feed for a 12V powered laptop. This provided a steady voltage over a range of input
