The YINMIK YK-P01 pH Meter Completely Transformed My Hydroponic Garden
I purchased the YINMIK YK P01 pH Tester Digital pH Meter several months ago for daily use in my hydroponic system, and it has become one of the most valuable tools in my setup. After long term, consistent use, I can confidently say this meter delivers excellent real world accuracy, dependable performance when properly maintained, and outstanding value for the price. For growers, aquarium hobbyists, brewers, or anyone who needs reliable pH measurements, this is an exceptionally solid choice. The YK P01 includes everything needed to get started immediately. It comes with calibration powders for pH 4.00, 7.00, and 10.01, three LR44 batteries, a dropper, and a protective cap with an internal sponge designed to help keep the probe hydrated. The large backlit horizontal LCD displays both pH and temperature at the same time, making readings easy to see even in low light conditions. Features like automatic temperature compensation, fast response times, and a hold function make testing quick and convenient, even when checking multiple reservoirs. This is actually my second YINMIK meter, and my first experience taught me an important lesson about proper care. I initially made common beginner mistakes, such as failing to rinse the probe after use and allowing the glass bulb to dry out, which caused readings to drift over time. When I contacted YINMIK customer support, they were outstanding and immediately sent a replacement at no cost. That level of service says a lot about the company. With the replacement unit, I followed the care instructions closely, calibrated it using the included powders, and the performance has been excellent ever since. Calibration takes less than a minute, and the readings have remained consistent and reliable. In hydroponics, maintaining proper pH is critical. Even small swings can quickly lead to nutrient lockout and visible plant stress. Before switching to this meter, inconsistent readings from a cheaper tester nearly cost me an entire crop. Once I began using the YK P01, I immediately identified an out of range reservoir, corrected it, and saw clear improvement within hours. Since then, plant health, root development, and overall growth have improved significantly, and I now have full confidence in my readings. Proper maintenance is essential with any glass electrode pH meter, and this one is no exception. I rinse the probe with distilled water after every use and keep the sponge in the protective cap lightly moistened using pH buffer or a storage solution. The meter does not include a carrying case or a dedicated storage solution, so I store it carefully and recommend purchasing a small pouch if you plan to transport it. I recalibrate about once a month or before important measurements, and the process is simple and straightforward. When compared with significantly more expensive brands, the YINMIK YK P01 holds up remarkably well. When calibrated and maintained properly, readings consistently fall within about 0.1 pH, which is more than adequate for serious hydroponic, aquarium, or water testing use. Its compact size, durability, and dependable performance make it well suited for daily use in humid or demanding environments. In summary, this pH meter delivers accuracy, reliability, and peace of mind at a price that is hard to beat. It has saved me time, prevented costly mistakes, and greatly improved my confidence in managing pH sensitive systems. Take care of it, keep the probe hydrated, and it will serve you well for years. Highly recommended.

Great value
I needed a quick replacement when my other ph pen died. This pen filled the roll incredibly well. The included temperature gauge is an amazing value and seems relatively accurate. I have not tested the temperature against another meter. The other brilliant feature is the backlight display that auto shuts off after about 10 seconds. you can still see the reading, but the backlight turns off to save battery. accuracy - this pen, When tested against my Milwaukee ph pen shows a difference of only .1, this is without calibrating the YINMIK ph meter out of the box. reliability - used for only about a month so far without issue, will update if it fails. accidentally fully immersed the meter in water for 2-3 seconds. dried the exterior and it remains fully functional. support your local brands when you can, but this is a GREAT backup pen.

Works, but sometimes readings are all over the place and don't stabilize even after calibration.
Update: This has never been extremely accurate. However, I was able to use it to get an idea if one acid solution made with vinegar and citric acid is more acidic than vinegar or lemon juice alone for example when canning. I can also use it to determine if TDS filtered water is generally more acidic or alkaline after filtering. There is a pad inside the lid that according to the instructions should stay moist at all times. This pad quickly became moldy and I removed it. The lid was washed and sanitized in a bleach solution. The lid and probe areas still smells strongly of dusty mold so I would never stick it into ready to eat food but rather pour off a sample to test. I have never kept the probe moist as recommended. The probe has never cracked or dried out. I also have never calibrated it since the first time I used it. Surprisingly, It has not needed it and gives same range of readings it always has with the same solutions. Like I said, while not completely accurate it is close enough for home use but is not quick to adjust or respond when being moved from different solutions. Calibrated correctly, so I know that it can determine PH correctly. When testing white vinegar, (5%) it read correctly. However there are sometimes when testing liquids like coffee or water that the readings don't stabilize. For example, when testing a cup of alkaline water, the reading measured 8.6. It gradually over the next 2-3 minutes dropped incrementally until the water had a PH of 6.2. I stopped watching it at that point. I repeated this test multiple times. So either the water is alkaline (over 7) or acidic (under 7) or neutral (7.0) or none of the above. It was hard to know for sure. If you are using this to measure PH of drinking water or filtered water, or using this for critical applications that require accuracy, I would recommend a PH testing alternative that is more reliable and accurate, even if it costs more. Note that the instructions say to shake the instrument side to side to release any bubbles that might be trapped underneath where glass probe is to get accurate readings. I can assure that this was done with vigor and is not a factor in the erratic behavior of the device I describe above.

Great little meter.
Great little meter. The solution stays good well over 15 days. It will give super accurate results if you calibrate with all 3 solutions, but since I only need +/-.1 accuracy, a once or twice daily calibration (which takes 15 seconds) if sufficient for me.

BEST FOR SEEDLING STARTERS
I start seedlings in rock wool which is naturally high in PH. Each year I soak the rockwool and test the PH until around 6-7. I’ve never really had to be perfectly accurate. I was ok with just being close. Upon opening the PH tester, I calibrated it with the packets and instruction that were in the box. Every single reading (7, 4 & 10) were right on the money. Then to test it further, I put in some PH down liquid into the 10ph cup. By measurement I added exactly enough to “supposedly” drop the PH from 10 to 5. Would it work? After stirring and waiting a few minutes, I tested the water with this PH meter, and it READ exactly 5.0. I was ok with “close enough” but this thing was perfect. A few days later I was going to the pet / fish store to pick up some crickets. So I decided to test this thing against a professional machine tester that they use to test their aquarium water. I tested my tap water which read 7.2. Taking the same exact water, I went to the pet/fish store and had them test the water through their professional machine. They got a reading of 7.1. Bottom line, this thing is REALLY good and the most accurate PH meter I’ve ever had.

Absolute Garbage
I’ve not been this frustrated for a hot minute. I just spent the better part of two hours going back and forth calibrating and re calibrating this stupid pen trying to stabilize the readout and it just won’t work. It reads properly for the test liquids at first and then when I go to actually use it for something I NEED it for and what prompted the purchase to begin with- it DOES NOT WORK. The readouts are off by over 2 whole points nearly every time. Even just testing it to see if it was a fluke, I tried reading my distilled water and it’s telling me it’s at 4.9-5.8 when I know dang well it sits at a perfect 7.1 every time. This pen is utter garbage - unless I got a bad one? I dunno. This has been SO frustrating!

Surviving the YinMik, How to keep your glass pH meter from breaking
Love this lost cost meter for pH testing, but make sure it's calibrated and heed my WARNING: the glass probe breaks if it dries out (that's why they include a dropper and sponge inside the cap). Keep the sponge wet with 3-4 drops of pH 4 buffer and store in a Ziploc to save it (reapply every few days). Also DO NOT DROP IT. These warnings are NOT IN THE MANUAL so ensure you follow them or your meter will break quickly and need to be replaced.

Yinmik yk-p01
Inexpensive little meter. Needs calibrating more often than I would like. For the price it’s acceptable.
