It took a long time for this to ship, but given that it was 5 feet long, I understood. I find it works well and has great range and I really like that it comes apart and stores well behind my truck seat. I cannot compare it to other antennas, as it is my first, but it skipped well, and also did well on the highway, so what more could you ask. I can hardly wait to try it on my new SSB set and see how it goes. Recommend you get the magnetic base as well. Perfect combination for occasional use.

This is a very well made CB antenna. I used this antenna for a base station and had it mounted on a steel shed outside the house and had great results talking to people up to 15 to 20 miles away at night. And I love the detachable feature on this antenna, you can detach the antenna from the base and store it in your vehicle when not in use without taking the whole thing off which is nice if you have the wire routed into the vehicle for permanent usage. Would highly recommend this antenna for mobile use.Would recommend ordering the optional magnetic base which also works excellent.Easy to tune and had great SWR readings.

Rivals a standard 8 foot whip antenna (maybe even better). Already out of the box tuned for low SWR. I get around 10 miles on my unit in the thick Florida woods (very good) from my driveway and I run a Galaxy DX-959 and a decent power mic on a LEGAL CB mobile radio station. I have this great antenna mounted on my Toyota Corola Trunk which of course is a small car and get out very well with the truckers on the interstate and other local residents in my home area. Combined along with the Amazon Astatic PDC5 SWR/Wattage Meter matcher I get maximimum output (transmit power), Optimum SWR levels. I highly recommend this antenna for Autos and mobile CB owners.

I had to lower the rating to 4 stars because of dealing with ACE PHOTO DIGITAL. The product itself deserves 10 stars. I have owned one of these antennas before (about 17 years ago). I knew how it should perform and was not shocked but pleased that it still works like the old one did. The antenna was easy to tune with an SWR meter. It looks good on my Jeep. I made a fender bracket for it that keeps the height down so it fits in my garage. Although I do have a tall garage door and ceiling. I still have to remove it for parking garages but that is made easy by the fact that this antenna has a quick release form the base. I am taking a chance of getting it stolen with where I have it mounted as it is in easy reach. Again, this is also not a worry as all I have to do is give it a quick turn and it comes off so I can store it inside my vehicle. The Quick release, though easy to use, is tight enough that I don't worry about it coming undone while I am driving. I lot of guys don't like the whip style antennas for off road because they like to stand way too close to vehicles as they go under trees and over rocks where it is dangerous to be anyways. The mast is flexible enough that I can bend it back and tie it off to my rack and it springs back to straight when I untie it. I am pleased with the over all look, and performance of this product and have thought about buying another one as they are getting harder to find. I had some issues with the company I bought it from (ACE PHOTO DIGITAL) so if you can find it elsewhere even for a little bit more, buy it there. I was fooled by the decent reviews of this company, but I only have to assume that those people that gave them good reviews, didn't actually have to deal with there VERY unprofessional customer service department. They will yell at you, belittle you and not listen to your issue. Again, DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANYTHING ELSE FROM ACE PHOTO DIGITAL!!!

The k40 is a standard among antennae in the market. I used one many years ago and I bought this one to use with my Cobra unit for my truck. Used the magnetic base mount for it so I could easily attach / remove the antenna from the roof of my truck and its simply the best antenna I've used. I started in CB radio's in 1977 and have had them 'on and off' since then. I've always leaned toward the Cobra radio family and while I've tried different antennae, the K-40 is the one I keep coming back to. It works and after you 'adjust' its length properly using a SWR meter, you'll be happy with it too.

Just recieved my new K40 antenna and during installation discovered that the K40 is not what it used to be. My previous K40 lasted about 23 years and had great range. This unit will not last as long. Even tho the design is the same, the quality of the parts are of a lot less cheaper quality. Would have returned it but needed it for a 4x4 trip that I was leaving on in 2 days. Had to repair the plastic in the base unit that attaches the antenna to it. This part used to be a very hard rubber type material, now it's plastic. This new part was already cracked and had to be epoxied before I could install it. Also the old unit on my Jeep, I had it tuned with my SWR meter to at lot less lower number than I can get out of this new unit. The vehicle is the same, the radio is the same, the location and the mount is the same, but the number on the SWR meter is a lot less value on the new unit. So I'm sure my range is a lot less also. Very unhappy with the overall quality of the unit. Would not recommend this new unit to anyone where I always did before.

Great antenna, very versatile. Comes standard as a trunk mount but can also be hard mounted through the roof if desired. If you purchase the optional mag mount attachment you have more options without having to purchase another antenna. For a small antenna it is a great performer with flat SWR's across the band. I put this up against my Wilson 5000 and to my surprise, it preformed just as well if not better for local and DXing. I was able to reach contacts via skip well over 1000 miles away with fair conditions. But if your looking to run a large amount of power (500 + watts) then this wouldn't be a good choice of an antenna. I do like the small profile design and the quick release of the coil from the base....the large stinger is also great at highway speeds. If you desire to have your antenna more tilted to the front for highway use the K40 can be tilted 30 degrees front or back. Overall, I'm very pleased with this antenna. Its a great performer, very versatile. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Excelente antena, tengo muy buena recepción y sobre todo muy buena señal de salida. Utilizo esta antena con un equipo Uniden Bearcat 980 SSB y la verdad estoy muy contento con esta combinacion. La he probado en el desierto con muy buen alcance a distancias largas pero lo qie9mas me gusta que a pesar de encontrarme en hondonadas o rodeado de dunas de arena muy altas sigo teniendo buen alcance tanto en recepcion como en transmisión.

C'est ma deuxième l'autre je l'ai eu 30 ans sur différents véhicules en sur 6 véhicules. Sa vaut le prix, si sa aurait pas été du fil qui a cassé a l'intérieur elle serait parfaite. C'est sûrement ma dernière. Et l'expéditeur #1 Robert Thibert rapide et efficace.

Was into CB years ago, now Ham Radio and I’ve got to say, the construction on the base could be better. The fit and finish where they go together do not fit properly leaving a small opening which allows water in while driving down hwy during a rain and thus, your match is off. After drying it out, the match goes back down. When you disconnect the loading coil, the water drips out of this area. I had to get some butyl rubber and wrap around this space to reduce the water from getting in just below loading coil.

Ordered this to replace one that I lost. Works very well, reliable, efficient and worth the money. I have used this brand and type for years. I do highly recommend the K40 K40A 57.25-Inch Base Load CB Antenna Kit with Stainless Steel Whip and Black/Red K40 Logo.
