Has any one used these on a 4x4 . I've an X-trail with 8 foot trailer. Want them while changing wheels and keeping trailer sturdy for hitching?

I used them on a Ferrari 430 and that has very wide tyres. Be sure you get 2 sets of 2 so you can put them in front and behind the wheels- they may be small but they just tuck under the tyres and dont move.

How many pairs do i need to buy? i want my car not to roll back wards (do i put 1 chock behind each of my rear wheels? or do i need 1 pair per wheel?)

Hello, the chocks work well on my car tyre size 225. You could use two per wheel if you wish I have only used one on each and that is with a slope on my drive. The chocks did not move while in use. I hope this is useful to you. Regards Jonathan.
