These are the REAL DEAL!
I have 4 tap and die sets. One large metric set and two large STD sets (all the way up to 1.5 inch!) and another regular smaller set. I use an Irwin Tools 21102- T-handle Ratcheting Tap Wrench For Tap Sizes 1/4" to 1/2" - see here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0039MNCGA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=308B46AMJR9OA&coliid=I3U6ADYQEXUNLJ but it just wasn't good enough or big enough for all my taps as they come in many different sizes. These tap sockets are hands down the best tools you can use (IMO) for taps! I recently used them for a waterpump R&R job and I wanted to clean the threads on the block of my 02 Acura when I was changing it out. I used a 1/4 inch impact drill with an extension adapter (very slowly and very carefully) but in no time flat I was able to clean out all 16 or so holes using these tools. Yes, yes, I know an impact drill is the wrong tool to use, especially if you're making new threads (which I wasn't) but I wanted to save time and these worked perfectly! And yes, I know a tap is not what you use to clean threads either, but that's what I had as my tap chasers were the wrong size. Like you, I've been around the block and have completed the circle in my 50 yrs, but if there's a better and faster way I'm gonna try it. These come in many different sizes and I love how I am now able to use my taps in places where my T-handle wouldn't permit. Anyone who's ever used taps will instantly realize the utility of these tap sockets. They are made of forged steel and are tougher than Tequila and the tap is held in place with a circlip or something so they don't fall out easily. Since I'm a motorhead and I'm always playing with tools fabricating or doing something, these are perfect for using my extensive set of taps! I even bought the large LI70940 set as well and those are heavy duty units too! I now have more options with my tap sets. I feel like Jeff Spicoli's uncle because now I really have the ultimate set of tools! These will probably last till I'm 85 and can't turn a wrench anymore, then, and only then, will I hand them down to my son! For now these babies are mine! If you're a mechanic or DIYer - then buy these as these are what you've been wishing they designed to solve your tapping problems. Actually, they've been around for years but I just recently decided I really wanted them. Good luck with your projects!

Effortless Thread Tapping with Lisle 70500 Tap Socket Set
I recently purchased the Lisle 70500 Tap Socket Set, and I must say it has made my DIY projects a breeze. The quality of the sockets is top-notch, and they fit perfectly, making the whole process of thread tapping effortless. I love how durable and sturdy the set feels, giving me confidence that it will last for a long time. The compact case is also a great addition as it keeps everything organized and easy to transport. I highly recommend the Lisle 70500 Tap Socket Set to anyone in need of a reliable and efficient tool for thread tapping. One small downside is that the set doesn't include a wide range of sizes, but overall, it's a fantastic product that I'm thrilled to have in my toolbox.

Great Fit and Strong Hold
These tap sockets lock onto taps securely and work perfectly with my ratchet. I used them in some really tight engine bay spaces where a traditional tap wrench wouldn't fit. They made the job quick and easy. Well-made and dependableโgreat addition to any mechanicโs toolbox.

Works Great
I really like this tap socket set. I have learned over more than a decade ago that it is MUCH easier to tap through holes with a drill motor and tap than with a tap wrench/handle. Using a tap wrench requires one to be square on three planes, while trying to rotate the tap handle. Yes, there are specialized jigs to help in holding a proper alignment, but they are expensive, awkward, and wonโt work in a lot of situations. They also make special drill press attachments that work wonderfully, but are completely out of the price range of your average tinkerer. And they have to be used where a drill press can do the work. But what works really well is a drill motor gripping the tap and a person guiding the amount of power and the alignment going into the hole. The problem then is, that the tap can hang a little, and the drill chuck will spin around the shank of the tap. This will damage the chuck jaws, rounding the gripping surface. Iโve been doing this for a while, and I knew I wasnโt doing my chucks any favors. So looking around for a better solution, I came across the Lisle 70500 Tap Socket Set. You still need a ยผ or 3/8 ths to hex socket adapter in order to interface the tap socket to the drill chuck. This alignment doesnโt allow any spinning on the tap shaft and is a very positive drive for the tap. You still have to be careful not to try to tap too much at one go, going in a bit and then backing out a bit. Proper thread cutting fluid for the material you are tapping greatly helps both for cleaner threads and in preventing breaking the tap. It does take a gentle touch, but it is in my experience so much better than trying use a tap wrench/handle (and I do have six or so tap wrenches and handles of varying sizes). The set does come with a chart as to which adapter works with with size tap, but Iโve found that taking a tap and eyeballing which adapter should fit, and then trying the fit (making sure it feels secure) has worked well for me.

Perfect fit
These work very well. There's a nice vacuum "pop" sound when removing because the taps fit is so perfectly. I tried a cheaper magnetic version of tap sockets from another manufacturer, and wish I hadn't wasted my time trying to save $6. The quality on these is leaps and bounds better. And made in the USA!

Looser fit on some taps but still good
Full inclusive kit for different taps, my workshop kit fits all the sockets and while some feel a bit loose, they all do their job well
