Is this the same thing as hotel chocolate velvetiser?

Burn the motor out? The frother wheel is NOT directly driven and is moved via a magnet….the worst that will happen is it won’t turn round but the motor will not be stopped in any way.

is this induction heated?

It's not induction heated - resistive elements perform the heating. It does rely on a rotating magnetic field to turn the whisk ie there's no physical driving shaft connecting to the whisk. Works well for the purpose I bought it - making hot chocolate at just the right temperature!

The video mentions hot chocolate but the instruction manual says to never add anything like hot chocolate mix or coffee granules?

Have been using for over two years to make hot chocolate in. We use callebaut granules added in with the milk in the frother. Never had a problem, makes good hot chocolate this way. It just doesn't pour well as there is no spout.

Can you make a flat white?

No. It can heat the milk and the you make the coffee with milk
