Our kitchen knives had reached the stage where they were so blunt they were dangerous. After a careful read of the instructions I tried 4 passes for each knife and they were better, a further 4 passes each and they are brilliantly sharp. I did find I needed to use my steel to hone them at the end of the process, and I suspect that finishing them on a whetstone would have been even better, but even without doing that they were way sharper than they had been. The instructions are easy to follow despite comments, you just need to work out which side of the blade the sloped edge is and put it in the slot that will sharpen that side. You don't need to use much pressure (and you shouldn't do so or you will damage the knife) and the suction cup grips quite adequately. Switch the machine off between knives and let it cool down, and all is well. I am so glad I bought this, I dithered for ages and tried other sharpeners, none were even close to this.

This is a great knife sharpener and excellent value for money. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars in every section is that it's a bit vicious and takes a bit of getting used to to use properly and safely. It does throw out sparks as well so you need to be fairly gentle in the way you draw the blade through the sharpening grooves as it can damage your knife if you press too hard. Mine have survived and were sharpened perfectly because I followed the instructions but it does take a bit of getting used to.

Read some positive and not so positive reviews but on trying the sharpener found it to be very good. Yes it is a bit noisy but for how long you use it , not really relevant. Yes you do get a couple of sparks off it , nothing major but that’s to be expected, it’s sharpening metal…. Just have to take care. I would recommend.

Bought this as my knives keep blunting quickly using a manual sharpener. Easy to operate, automatically shuts down when it gets too hot, which will happen if it is on for 5 continuous minutes. Sharpened my knives and Scissors quickly, only issue is you can't sharpen close to the hilt or the cross section on the scissors which I personally thought was useless. On the plus side, the cable retracts so no trying wind it round the sharpener.

Does the job. Although you'd need to run the knife through 5-6 times.
