Is suitable for 5 - 7 year olds or is it more of a toddler toy?

I'd say it's aimed more at toddlers but the older children have enjoyed it too. Whilst the babies loved throwing the balls down the lava slide and going down the slide in the middle, the older children liked playing the hoop games that are included and knocking each other on the heads with the inflatables. With that in mind, it might not be as durable with the older children so you might not get your money's worth. My nephew's (4 year old) feet touch the ground whilst sat at the top of the slide. The Poole is too shallow to swim in for any age. Before I purchased mine I read previous reviews too that suggest the likelihood of punctures appears greater the older the children get so be prepared to maybe not get as many uses out of it.

Could this be used in the sitting room? (I'd have loads of newspaper down to protect the new carpet)

Yes it could be used indoors. You could fill it with plastic balls rather than water and have a Dino ball pit!

What time of connector do you need to attach the hose?

Hi, I’m not quite sure, but an adapter came with the product which seemes matching a few different sizes. The adapter was what I connected to my hose.
