Want to connect pro-ject vt to Sonos play 5, is this what I need?

Yes, this will allow you to connect your turntable to a Sonos Play 5. You'll just need a 2 RCA to 3.5 jack cable to run from the pre-amp to the play 5.

Will this connect to the 5 pin tape input in a 1970's decca sound turntable?

The input/output connectors on this pre-amplifier are RCA Phono. If you have a 5 pin DIN output on your turntable you would need a cable with 5 pin DIN at one end and Phono on the other. If you can source one of these then it should work.

Can I use an Aux cable with this?

what is the output of the amp?

My understanding is that the amp does not have any output it simply converts the signal from a turntable to one which your current amplifier can then read, therefore you will get the normal performance from your existing amplifier. Mine works well. Hope this helps. J.
