Great wee machine
Great wee coffee machine, I got this for the paper filters for the less cleaning and it has done the job each day. Simple on off switch at the front and it makes coffee quick enough for a filter coffee machine.

Good value but not without its issues
I've had the machine just over a month so feels right to review it now. Pros: - price is very reasonable - speed and capacity - it's quick to make a pretty large jug of coffee - looks great on kitchen counter - hot plate works effectively and coffee stays warm for a good while after it auto-shuts off - the non-drip 'system' works pretty well, especially if you wait a minute or two after it finishes brewing - easy to clean (I wipe down the water from inside the tank and coffee compartment after each use to save it getting grubby. Cons: - ignore the promo video on here - it's a different model. This doesn't come with a timer mode. And weirdly the box and the pics on Amazon show an 'On/off' button, whereas mine just has a power symbol... presumably so it can be more easily manufactured for multiple countries? - the glass carafe feels very delicate - might need to be thin to work with the hot plate (I've never used another coffee maker so they might all be like this), but it definitely wouldn't take much to smash it and I'm as careful as possible when washing/drying it! - the machine may look good, but it's a little flimsy and isn't half as solid as it looks, it's basically just a plastic shell... not necessarily a bad thing but I guess that's why it's pretty cheap. The top hinge of the coffee compartment broke within a week of me receiving the machine, so I'm now being extra careful! - the cup/mug guide on the jug and water level is either inaccurate or designed for different mugs. If I want to make three average mugs of coffee, I have to go up to the 9/6 mark. Just takes some getting used to. - I've had a couple of disasters where coffee/water just spills out everywhere - seems to be because the filter paper has shifted inside the coffee compartment after I've closed it and the water's just pooled around it. (Touch wood) it hasn't happened for a while, but this is just another aspect I have to be extra careful around! So overall, a good value machine that's been a nice introduction to coffee makers, but far from perfect. Even for the price I'd hope it could be a bit more robust. And if you're on the fence between a coffee maker and a cafetiere, I'd go with this. The clean up is much easier - you can just lift out the filter paper with all the coffee grounds in it, super easy - plus it keeps it hot for you.

Good coffee maker
This is about the third DeLonghi coffe maker I have had and I am not disappointed. It gives a good cup of coffee, especially with the paper filters and does not leave the dregs in the bottom of your cup. It is also non-drip so that the plate keeps clean. It was also a good price. Would recommend.

Spend more on a better quality machine
I've been looking for a filter coffee machine for some time, and in the prime sale I spotted this one which looked like a simple but, good quality machine. I've just filed a refund for it as I'd rather spend more and get one that works properly. The coffee drips on to the hot plate when removing the jug. I saw people had commented about this one not having a drainage system so that this doesn't happen but as its my first coffee machine I thought I'd give it a go. Turns out the drainage part that isn't on this one is absolutely an essential part! Unless you don't mind coffee everywhere! The on/ off button is very temperamental. It seems to work when it wants to. Also, the video on the amazon listing of this product is not correct. They show other machines by this brand which I find very misleading. I wanted a simple non singing or dancing machine that did the job intended. It has put me off spending this amount and I'm going to buy one that's rated better for more money. And, I'll definitely be doing my research on it first!

Ticks all the filter coffee making boxes at a very low price
Have bought one of these before, and couldn't resist the discount this time to buy another one. Tested it all out and I can confidently say: Easy to use Easy to clean Relatively quiet Simple but elegant design Easy to fill with water Jug nice to hold (do watch out for it falling out of the box when you open it though!) No drips (wait till coffee has brewed before removing jug) Coffee tastes great Coffee stays hot One simple control (oh, and no 'smell' that some people mention - you do need to use clean water and no coffee for first two brews though) If I really searched for something to whine about it would be that it would be lovely if the base had some kind of excess cable storage facility. Having just paid out for a £100 fancy name toaster only to find it toasts less evenly than my rock bottom emergency purchase £15 toaster, was not in the mood to fork out for another fancy name appliance. And was glad I did so. Recommended.

Ok, but not great.
It's okay. It makes coffee. It looks good. But three things let it down. One is the fact that it somehow transfers grits into the bottom of the jug. Not really sure how this happens as I'd have thought it would have to get through the filter paper first. I wonder if some is leaking down between the paper and the plastic. Anyway, forewarned is forearmed and I don't drink right to the end of a cup since having this machine. Another feature that I really don't like is the auto-shut off. It won't keep your coffee warm for an hour or so. Not quite sure when it turns off (I guess I could look at the instructions if I was really bothered) but it's too soon for the coffee to be made in advance (like when my husband leaves for work) or for it to be on during an ongoing social event. Which is fine, I guess, as it saves electricity (except I'm using the microwave more), but I would really like the choice as to whether to use the auto-shut off feature or not. I wish I"d looked at the specification properly before buying it, but hey ho. It was cheap compared to some of the other machines out there and I reckon that must count for something. It just isn't as good as the Krups machine it replaced. The third, and more minor thing is the on button is easily pressed by accident. It's low down and doesn't take much of a press so if your counter top is a bit cluttered like mine you are forever turning the coffee machine on by accident.

Brilliant value for money!
This replaces a dead Krups coffee machine that cost twice as much and died of old age. The De'Longhi one is exactly the same height and looks much more attractive. It makes really great coffee and does it quickly. It's best to leave it a couple of minutes after the timer beeps, to let those last few drips through. It's easy to fill with water - good wide access to the water tank when the lid is lifted. Very easy to wipe clean (best to use a microfibre cloth). Coffee container is dead easy to lift out for washing or rinsing. OK, the coffee container doesn't have a very strong catch so it can pop open when inserting or removing the jug. But it's no problem to hold it in position (one finger) when doing either. In any case the sprung valve at the bottom stops it dripping on the counter. I checked Which? Best Buys before buying this one, There were 3 listed, one at around £80, one at about £120, and this De'Longhi at £26. No-brainer.

This is my second machine. Great product, packaging still needs work!
Please see below my original review of this product. I can say happily that the machine makes good coffee, is easy to clean and I really do rely on it for every cup. This is my second machine as the heating element went in my first one but I had been making coffee in it for years at least once a day so it didn't owe me anything. My main complaint is still that the manufacturer/supplier didn't note my comments when I bought the first machine so the packaging is still a problem. The machine comes in a box - everything all right so far. Now beware! The contents inside appear to be wrapped in a large plastic bag for ease of getting them out of the box. The glass jug IS NOT IN THE BAG and will fall to the floor and smash if you don't take great care when taking everything out of the box. I suggest lying the box on a carpet on its side and pulling things out very carefully taking special note of the glass jug. Once you have done that it is mostly plain sailing! Be very careful. Below is my original review of the product before I had even used it as I had to BUY a second jug for my new product last time. I can't yet say how good this coffee pot is because the jug broke as I unpacked it due to a thoughtless method of packaging. The box contains the machine and jug apparently in a plastic bag. The packaging within the box holds the machine during transit and seems secure and fit for purpose. The problem is that you have to pull the bag out of the box and then you discover that the jug is not within the plastic bag but simply placed within the void of the machine for transit so it falls out and in my case hit the tiled floor and smashed. I suggest that the jug, within its own bubble wrap is placed within the main plastic bag as you have no option but to pull the main plastic bag out of the box but no-one would expect that the jug is simply balanced in the space within the machine so it falls free as soon as it reaches the top of the box. Very frustrating and annoying to have to pay over £13.00 for a replacement jug when I don't feel this was my fault in any way. I would suggest that the company rectifies this by having a better method of packing the jug and that others who buy this open their box on a soft carpet with the box on its side so the jug can't fall from counter height and smash!
