Toshiba by Kioxia 32 GB TransMemory U202 USB2 White

These are great little USB sticks; I now have bought three of these for various reasons. 1 for another family member, 1 with files / photos backed up and 1 for a Windows recovery / boot drive. They are so cheap that I am likely to order another one or two as I'd like to have a separate drive exclusively for photos - useful if carrying to a friend's house if you want to show holiday pics without also taking your private Word documents! Hard to review, the oldest one is about three years old and no problems (touch wood). Same with the other two. With USB sticks they can of course just die suddenly, so I'm happy to get one from a company that has a good enough CV with regards to computer memory / storage products. Makes me feel a little better than buying a cheapie no-name, but tbh these are running at £4 / 16gb at time of writing, so I've no complaints there either. Seems stable, formats well (I have both FAT32 and NTFS formatted drives), decent styling. For my needs, I wouldn't feel it necessary to spend more just to buy a better name drive; but obviously backup files in multiple locations is probably wise with any drive, wherever possible is probably good advice. So far, so good, this is great for me. Recommend it!

While there are a myriad of USB flash drives that are fast, powerful and have glorious specs, what they fail in, is where this little baby works flawlessly. I use it specifically in my Samsung Smart TV for the ‘Timeshift’ and the ‘Record’ aired transmission feature. Most USB drives struggle to emulate a HDD in the manner that this Trans-Memory USB 2.0 device functions. Although made by Knoxia this is a Toshiba device and it’s excellent. Where other well known brands have let me down in the usage scenario described, this is simply put, PERFECT!

I bought this Toshiba TransMemory USB Flash Drive (16GB) in order to use it for viewing videos and listening to audio books when I am away from home. It is compact and the plastic lid serves to protect the device. Firstly, I plugged the sturdy device into a USB port on my PC, and it was recognised immediately. The drive can work with Windows 7, 8.1, 10 and Mac v10.6.6-v10.10. I noticed that the actual available storage space was 14.4GB. After creating a series of folders on the drive, I used the simple 'drag and drop' method (or copy and paste will do) in order to transfer files to the relevant folders. This was a straightforward procedure. When I plugged the drive into the USB port at the back of the TV, I was able to view the folders, and both access and successfully watch the videos and listen to the audio files. The flash drive is a reliable product and I am pleased to recommend it.

firstly, there are a mix of reviews for different Toshiba memory sticks. This is for the 64GB usb 2.0 version . The stick is compact and reliable. It provides an incredible amount of storage for a very low price. The downside is that usb 2.0 has much slower transfer speeds than newer usb 3.0. If write speed is a priority and you want to transfer large files quickly then do NOT buy the 2.0 version, go for later 3.0 . If you are happy to use this as a back-up and can let it take the time it needs (for 64gb - 3+ hrs) , the usb 2.0 is ideal. Reading from the usb 2.0 (and writing back to your main device/computer) is about 5 times faster. The read speed is probably fast enough to be used for 1080p HD video ( I would do test first) but not 4K UHD. It is, however, not really suitable for using except bac-up long term storage as accessing say music files for a media player is too slow to be enjoyable. I bought this as a better place to store about 50gb of mp3 music files, it does the job perfectly. finally, I repeat, if you are not happy to allow a couple of hours for the usb to fill up, buy a more expensive faster version.

This is a quality memory stick that you can trust with your personal data. The plastic casing is strong and sturdy and will not break. It is very fast for transferring files to and from the computer. This memory stick will probably be closer to 14GB if you got the 16GB variant and for the others just minus 2GB also, but that would be standard for most devices of this type. The small size of the stick is great and the lid is good for protection. It is compatible with all types of computers like Windows and Mac. It’s very hard to go wrong with Toshiba as they are known for making great quality memory sticks. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. Happy storing! Very good usb but don't try uploading a file over 4GB all at once because your computer will tell you the device is full, even when there is nothing on it. Uploading files of less than 4GB is fine, it's a type of file thing apparently. This will hold the displayed GBs added together in little files of less than 4 GB. eg: I had put a home movie on a computer, file size 4.65GB and I tried putting it on the USB flash drive and the computer said the USB was full. Neither my computer, nor the USB was defective, just my approach. I re-recorded the movie in 2 halves, so each half was less than 4GB and each uploaded perfectly well, with a whole load more files too, each under 4GB in size. There you go, same amount of data but in smaller, multiple bundles rather than a big wad. I hope that helps? It seems to be the same thing with most usbs and file types. There are some files in a particular code/type that'll load all at once over 4GB but most of us don't want the faff of changing computer files from one type to another and just stick with the one we have

I'm old enough to remember floppy discs, their interminable format and load times and how you spent more time doing that than in my case, writing the document itself. I'm a convert to Toshiba memory stick products, primarily because (and I know this is probably daft), they seem to hold content without degradation or difficulty better than some less well known brands, although the concept is moot given the way it functions. I would say it's the Toshiba name that actually gives me peace of mind, the price being worth the item and capabilities and they actually seem cosmetically better. Anyway, it works for me and that's all she (I) wrote.
