A premium pencil
The Rapid Pro 0.5mm mechanical pencil is another instance of Rotring excellence. The styling, in my opinion, is beautiful in the matte black finish, finely knurled grip, and sleek aesthetic. It has an automatic "spring-loaded" cushioning mechanism for heavy-handed users who press hard on a pencil when writing. The lead sleeve is retractable and has no wobble insofar as I can discern. I like a small grip diameter, and the Rapid Pro is just suited to my taste in this regard (The grip diameter is very slightly larger than my Rotring 800.). The Rapid Pro has a brass clutch for gripping the lead unlike lesser pencils having plastic clutches. The upper body of this model (above the red ring) is hard plastic; although, it looks and feels like metal. This does not cheapen the pencil, for many other top-line pencils have hard plastic bodies also to reduce cost, weight, and finger fatigue during long periods of writing. The hexagonal shape of the upper body fails to prevent the pencil from rolling off the desk. However, the pocket clip stops the roll after one turn. There is no lead-hardness window. There is no lead-clearing pin embedded in the eraser as in the Rotring 800. This is a solidly built, premium pencil. I would gladly give it ten stars. I would buy it again.

Typical rOtring quality and aesthetic...
I recently bought several of the best-reviewed (Lifewire, etc.) mechanical pencils. And I added to the Kuru Toga and Graphgear 1000 this rOtring Rapid Pro based on my having enjoyed the quality of rOtring fountain pens back in the day... So, several observations. First, rOtring's aesthetic and quality remains constant. This is a hefty, solid pen. At times such heftiness seemed to work against rOtring's fountain pens, but it feels wonderful with this pencil. Second, the price is substantially more than the price of several more innovative well-reviewed pencils. The Graphgear 1000, for instance, is a metal pencil with a retracting point that doesn't need to be pressed back into the barrel manually as the rOtring requires, yet it costs less than half what the Rapid Pro costs. The Kuru Toga has a twisting lead feed that rotates the lead to keep it sharp and precise, rather than getting worn in one place and elongating, yet its metal versions are also less than half the price of the Rapid Pro. Third, the Rapid Pro is a beauty. Its heft and precision are worth the extra cost, to my mind. But that's the reason for buying it. Don't buy it if utility outweighs aesthetics. Only buy it if you like the rOtring look and feel.

Amazing pencil
The weight and feel is great. The grip works well and does not cause any discomfort. The pencil is on the heavy side in a good way. It is made mostly out of metal and the quality shows. The tip is retractable, which protects from poking while in your pocket and also prevents potential damaging of the tip. It feels great when writing for both short and long durations. The image itself is pretty much exactly what it looks like in person. I have not used any other of the Rotring pencils, but this is among the most highly rated among the brand, which is rated to be one of the best pencil manufacturers. If you want a solid and nice mechanical pencil, I would highly recommend buying this! Purchase price: $38.46 after tax and free shipping.

I have 3 of these hahahahah
I bought the first one and I liked it so much I bought another one to leave at home. I bought a 3rd one to gift for anyone I know enjoys using this type of mechanical pencil. It has a nice weight to it. I have a lighter m.pencil and I can feel the difference when switching between the two. The look is great and it makes using the m.pencil feel good. I haven't written with this for lengths of time so I can't comment on what it feels like in that situation. I think I echo what others have said here. The tip is exposed so dropping it such that the tip is damaged may destroy the m.pencil. If you're incredibly worried about this I suggest the Rapid Pro. I haven't seen it on sale in awhile but that kind of gives you a little more protection because the tip is retractable. But still don't let that discourage you. This m.pencil is great and it will make writing an enjoyable time.

Some limitations
This is a very nice pencil -- a bit on the heavy side, but thinner, I think, than most all-metal pencils and pens. I think its best feature (aside from the all-metal construction) is the retractable tip, which allows it to be clipped inside the pocket without worrying about the delicate lead holder at the end breaking off. But just yesterday, I noticed that the metal tube covering the eraser was loose, and for no apparent reason; It wasn't broken or bent in any way. I had to put a bit of sticky wax on the inside of it and slide it back down over the eraser top in order for it to stay put. It was almost as though the tube's width suddenly expanded -- even though when I received the pencil, the fit was perfectly snug. I'm glad I noticed the looseness before losing the eraser cap altogether. Another drawback is that the pencil seems to take a lot less lead in storage than some of the others I own (such as my Zebra M-models, which hold nearly a dozen extra leads). For this pencil, trying to fit more than 2-3 extra leads in the reservoir jams them up in the inner tube, so it doesn't seem like this would be a particularly great pencil for long travels.

A very nice pencil
I bought this pencil partly because i saw a friend with the same brand and it looked like a very cool pencil, it was in my freshman year of highschool and i carried me throughout highschool. Only reason it broke on me was because I fiddle with it alot, screwing and unscrewing things, taking apart and putting back together, because school was boring and there wasn't much else to do. the plastic holding on the grip and tip of the pencil slowly stretched out and snapped within weeks of the end of my school year. Overall a very nice pencil, i love the weight, I love the feel I'm defiantly getting another pencil from this company, because so far this is the only pencil for me to last for four years.

rapid pro
This is my favorite mechanical pencil so far. It's almost entirely made of metal, giving it a substantial feel in the hand, but at the same time it's overwhelmingly front-heavy, which to me makes it very comfortable to write with. The grip is a gentle and consistent knurling that offers good resistance in all directions without being prickly. I am a little uncertain about the tip; you need to push all the way down to fully extend the lead sleeve, and when you're done using the pencil, you need to manually push the sleeve in to hide the tip. I do like that the sleeve touches the paper as the lead is used up, as this prevents the lead from snapping with too much force. The other thing I'm unsure of is the clip; it's a nice metal clip, but it doesn't clip onto thick fabric as smoothly as those on other pencils.

Ottima

Fiquei horrorizado. Aliás, não veio nota fiscal alguma.
