Is this suitable for taking casts of plasticene sculpts for prosphetics?

Thank you for your enquiry.  We supply prosthetics companies with BabyRice Alginate - the alginate is used for making accurate impression moulds (of which casts are then made from the replica impression moulds).

Would I get a 12yr 4yr and baby all together out of this powder size?

Hi Jemma,

No, you would not be able make so many mould impressions from this 1 bag of alginate.  As a guide, you would be able to make 1 hand mould of your 12 year old and possibly 1 hand or foot mould of your baby with this one bag of alginate.  So I would suggest you either purchase 2 bags (we have them on Amazon as 2 bags and they work out cheaper price per bag), or purchase this 1 bag first and see how you get on and what you can make from it.

how much would i need to cast a hand and forearm?

Hello there,

If you are wanting to cast an adult's hand and forearm, then I suggest you purchase 4 bags of 500g to ensure you have plenty.  If you are wanting to cast a small child, then 2 would be enough.  You need to use a suitable sized container, one where there is not a lot of space around the hand/forearm, to ensure that the alginate is not wasted by having to fill a large space...

No you can use this for anything, you will just waist your money, it’s impossible to mix properly and even if you do somehow miraculously manage to mix it, it will be too wet to put silicon in
