Logi MX Ergo Trackball Mouse
User of Trackballs since 1999. Many previous logitech corded versions still around somewhere, with a few of the competition. Currently using three M570’s. Best mice around no question. When one was damaged I saw an opportunity to try either the M575 or Mx Ergo. Bought MX Ergo and wondered why i did not try this earlier. Disregard some of the reviews, some are out of date. This is a review of mine shipped Oct 2023 to the UK. Pros: Sturdy feel and built. Has some weight to it. Has a larger area for palm which is surprisingly an improvement. Solid feel when using. Trackball is a smooth type (compared to the rougher ball that most have complained about) Mine was shipped with same ball as the on the 570 but grey in colour. Smooth to use, so no problems there at all. Can be used on 2 devices independently by switching between the usb receiver on one device and using bluetooth on another via the button on mouse Best of all, by using the Options+ flow software on two pcs you can copy and paste files and pics from one device to another. The mouse goes between one pc screen to the other (no need to switch on the mouse !). Just drag and drop between pc screens. Both pcs must be connected to the same wifi. The transfer speed is as fast as your wifi router allows. Ok for pics and files. Huge Gb files will work but go get a coffee while it transfers ! Slower tracking speed available when needed for more precise mouse movements. The track wheel is much improved and has some really smooth slow motion when scrolling down web pages and docs. Makes quick reading a web page much easier. Battery life says 4 months in manual per charge. I have not charged it at all. Used daily for the past 2 weeks. Good for any rechargeable device. Can be used it one of two positions. Flat or at a notched angle (say 20 degrees in manual) I have never had a position issue with a logi mouse so I thought this was a gimmick. It is sometimes a nice change of hand position when working for a long time. I say this is a pro. For some reason I prefer 20 degrees ?? Cons: Rechargeable battery. M570’s used one alkaline AA every few years. Cannot beat that, so not sure why they changed it. No where on the mouse to store the usb receiver ? Important to me if I am away. Amazon description says USB-C. Mine was shipped with Micro USB connector see pic. No big deal but worth noting if that was a requirement of the purchase. Two xtra buttons (left and right clicks) on schrol wheel. Cannot find any practical use for these. Too sensitive to use even for copy and paste, but all buttons can be made redundant in the settings or customised if needed. I use the slow tracking motion button on this mouse more than I thought it would. The specs say it has 3 dpi settings, the button just has two and I cannot find any setting in the software to try the third dpi setting. Overall a quality well made piece of kit. if you are a trackball person. This is the best so far.

Simply put the best mouse I have ever used
This is a robust, versatile and comfortable mouse Major features for me - better build than Microsoft - comfort and versatility in use - unifying receiver - excellent battery life I've had used umpteen devices since my first pc over 20 years ago. I currently use a laptop and have 2 mice and a keyboard running faultlessly from 1 unifying receiver (M570 trackball, Performance MX mouse, and K360 keyboard). The M570 withstands everything I throw at it - the trackball is securely held in its socket and comes out with gentle coaxing when you eventually need to clean the three mini rollers that hold it in place. I have been very clumsy with this mouse and dropped it on the floor on more times than I remember (more than 20 in over 3 years of use). The mouse has hit the wooden floor with enough force for the trackball to bounce out - but I just put it back in and it is still working perfectly. I have found in general that Logitech mice have better longevity in use. Compared to the Performance MX mouse (which sits on my desk and has different functions assigned to its buttons - done easily with Logitech's software) it is a superior product for comfort and ease of use. The MX may track on glass; but it still requires a surface to operate on and much greater wrist / arm movement to use. The M570 is just easier and more comfortable. Logitech could improve the product by adding the functionality the MX has with scrolling (a button that enables free scrolling). They could also add extra thumb buttons adjacent to the trackball to increase versatility. There are two problems with the mouse : They do not make a left handed version (serious problem for lefties). You have to get used to using your thumb (water off a ducks back with practice).

Fantastic Device
I've had a previous version of the this - a Cordless Trackman Wheel for many years, but recently I made the mistake of putting a cheap battery in it, which leaked and killed it. I was so impressed with the long term reliability of the previous device that when I was looking for a replacement I felt compelled to go for this updated model rather than a different brand or style. I bought it from Pomegranate, with delivery to an Amazon Locker, and it arrived swiftly, brand new, as described. The M570 has lived up to my expectations completely. It's very comfortable, accurate, and feels as durable as my previous version, so I'm confident it will also last for many years. I haven't installed any additional software, just plugged in the discreet USB receiver, and let Windows do the rest. I just use it for the basic functions - moving the cursor, left and right clicking, and scrolling through documents with the wheel. This means the additional buttons (initially programmed for moving the page forward and back while web browsing) are superfluous for me at present, but maybe I'll try making use of them in the future. I've also made no attempt to re-program any buttons, as I've read is possible, maybe with additional software (not included - I assume that's something to download from Logitech). I love the freedom you get from a trackball device. I don't need to worry about what surface I'm going to use, so I can easily move my laptop to a desk, an armchair or even my bed, and not bother about an additional surface to roll a mouse around on. I think that for my purposes - mostly web browsing, document writing and programming - a trackball is ideal. If you are interested in certain games, or other uses that require faster movement around the screen, this is probably not going to suit you, but I can quickly and easily navigate around an extended desktop with no problem at all. Some general points: It comes with a battery (Duracell AA) already fitted and ready to use when you remove the plastic protection tab. It has an on/off switch, unlike my previous Trackman, and that device lasted for months on a single battery so I have high hopes that this will be even more efficient. There's also a little light that briefly flashes green when you switch it on, and I believe it will flash red when the battery is low. Finally, the USB receiver is discreet, as I mentioned before, with less than a centimetre protruding from the socket. You can keep it plugged in and still carry the laptop around with you quite easily, but if you want to remove it for any reason, there is a little slot for it in the battery compartment so that you can avoid the risk of misplacing it. I've been using the M570 for a couple of weeks now and I haven't had a single negative experience. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Very comfortable
[Two year update: still going strong, some of the gel pads on the bottom have peeled off but still working great] [Seven year update: still working, mostly. Need to replace it really as the right click doesn't always fire properly, but other than that it is still working well, and I can live with it. Would still recommend.] Bought this because I was getting pain in my arm and index finger from overusing the trackpad on my macbook pro. This is a great mouse. Very comfortable to use. I especially like the fact that I can fold my arm and use it parallel to the screen, or on the side of my leg, etc. I was worried that it would take me ages to get used to using it, but it took no time at all. I found it very intuitive. I've been using it for 5 months for 9 hours a day 5 days a week now (no battery change needed so far). You can pop the blue trackball out of the case for cleaning, which I've only needed to do once, it's not a dirt trap at all. Ok, those are the good points, here are the not so good (but bear in mind I'm ridiculously picky): You can't use it left handed. Well you can in a pinch, but barely. It feels light and flimsy at first, the trackball necessarily rattles a bit. But I think it is actually a quality product, it just might disappoint you at first glance. My accuracy and speed still isn't perfect. It doesn't bother me though. I find myself overshooting and having to do a finer position adjustment very often, but we're talking about an extra 0.25 seconds compared to the trackpad or a standard mouse here. I don't even notice I'm doing it half the time. You can still achieve pixel-perfect precision with the trackball; single pixel mouse movement is easy. In fact easier than with a mouse I think, especially because it's very difficult to accidentally knock the trackball, unlike a mouse. You can even move the trackball out of your way without affecting pointer position. You also find your thumb travelling further, like it can take a couple of swipes to get from one side of the screen to the other. Again though this isn't annoying (surprisingly). The scroll wheel is the worst part. It's not very responsive; it just seems like it's slipping, like you're scrolling like mad but the screen isn't moving as much as you expect it should be. It might be something to do with the inertial scrolling on the mac, as it seems like small scroll movements barely register, while faster ones scroll more. Something's not quite right there anyway. Still usable though, I use it all the time, it's just a little bit less than seamless. You can click the scroll wheel and use the trackball to scroll, which works fine. Scroll wheel click also acts as middle click for opening links in tabs etc, which works perfectly. The trackball is slightly laggy if your computer is under heavy load; when processing a video in iMovie or quicktime, for instance, the pointer gets jumpy and I have to switch back to the trackpad. I don't use the two other buttons on it, but they don't get in the way at all. All in all though, I'm very very happy with it and wouldn't go back to a trackpad or normal mouse now. I recommended it if you're concerned about pain. Oh, and my 7 month old loves it. So the 'off' switch is coming in handy...

Works as advertised.
It's a trackerball mouse. The ball moves, the mouse stays put. Mine is part of my gaming rig, stuck to the side of my chair, where it falls easily to hand. In flight sims it's fun to fly keyboard free- I use pedals, a throttle, a high end joystick and now the trackerball. The ball allows me to select controls within the cockpit that I'd otherwise have to assign keyboard shortcuts to. It's very satisfying to look at a knob or lever and just adjust it on the fly, rather than having to memorise dozens of key strokes to achieve the same thing. It adds to the sense of immersion as well as easing my workload. It works particularly well with head tracking software and VR goggles. As a mouse it's fairly intuitive and will do pretty much everything a regular mouse does. It's worth considering if you have limited desk space or if you're carrying old injuries. My wrist was broken some years ago and I find it much more comfortable than the conventional mouse I have to use in work. I've given the 'battery life' five stars. That might change, the device is brand new! But I'm typing this on a Logitech keyboard and I've used wireless Logitech mice for years. They've all had excellent battery life, I don't see any reason why the trackerball would be any different. If the device does have any problems over the coming years I'll update this review. If there aren't any updates, you can take it that everything worked out just fine for me and my new purchase. Tl;dr. Good product, ideal for my needs.

Excellent mouse
I bought this trackball mouse on a whim after long periods of time at a computer desk made using a mouse painful due to RSI. Since this was my first trackball-style mouse, I was hesitant to try it but I have been very pleasantly surprised. The trackball can be used with Logitech's SetPoint driver software, though it's not necessary. It does give you control over mouse acceleration for individual software, if you're into that, but I've not found a use for it yet. Personally I use both Windows and Linux; neither have had any problems with connection or drivers. It took me a couple of minutes to get used to the new movement, after which I didn't really notice it and was almost back to my old precision and speed. Having had this mouse for around 9 months now, it has almost completely reduced the strain on my arm (as long as you're not stretching across the desk, but that goes for regular mice too) and I've not noticed any lingering pain since. Movement is smooth and fluid, and you quickly get used to quick and precise movements. As far as battery life goes, I'm still on the first battery it came with 9 months ago (currently at 20% life remaining). The SetPoint Windows software includes a battery life monitor, with the option to show notifications when your mouse's battery is close to running out. I have only had 2 minor problems with it so far. First is that the scroll wheel, while responsive, gets slightly loose after a few months. This leads to the slightly-more-than-occasional occurence of scrolling in the reverse of your scroll direction after letting go of the wheel, especially on small movements. Second is a problem which affects most trackballs (and ball mice); the ball can get slightly dirty and jam occasionally, or become harder to turn. There's no obvious way to remove the trackball to clean it and remove dirt, but Logitech's website likely has details on how to do that. All in all, this is an excellent mouse with the great effect of reducing strain on your arm. If you're on the fence about trying a trackball mouse, I would easily recommend this mouse as the place to start.

A mouse saved my life - Excellent product
5 stars is just not enough. I'm just about to purchase the second M570 trackball so that speaks volumes. I bought this to relieve RSI in my wrist, never had RSI before but it was getting to a stage where I could hardly move the the traditional mouse side to side. You've no idea how frustating and painful this is until it happends to you. First few days of using this trackball mouse and I was ready to bin it. It does take a little getting to used to. But once you master the trackball you won't want to use the traditional mouse again. I work with graphics and the accuracy is superb. You can adjust settings to suit you, I just slowed down the speed a little for more accuracy. The ball moves smoothly and of course you never need to move the mouse right to left, it is fixed. I think years of working with movable mice had caused RSI but I can honestly say it has nearly completely gone. I'm just struggling to find a keyboard that has the same impact. The mouse looks good too and makes it easier to work in a confined desk space if you are hot-desking. Visitors stuggle with it, as I said it gets a little getting used to, so I keep a spare old fashioned one by my desk. Highly recommeneded and buying a second one as a spare incase I leave it in offce. **If anyone can recommend a life changing anti-RSI keyboard to match this I'd be grateful.

Amazing convenience
June 2013 - I wonder how did I ever manage without it? I bought this to use with the pc instead of a normal mouse and I found out that it is so much easier to use than anything else, I have no more pain or discomfort when working on the computer. I love it so much I cannot use the laptop without it. The beauty is that it does not need to be used on a flat or even a solid surface, the tracker ball works efficiently on any surface, it is even very easy to use when I use my laptop in bed. I am also impressed with how long life the battery can last. I have been using this tracker ball mouse for eight months for several hours a day and I have not yet needed to change the battery. Oh and I dropped it, accident of course, few times on my hard floor. Although I was worried it got damaged, the tracker ball came off and rolled away, it looked dramatic but all I had to do replace the ball back in its place and start using it straight away, no problems. November 2013 - This amazing tracker ball cannot be any better, I have not yet changed the battery in spite of 16 months of daily heavy use. It is very comfortable and perfect for painful and limited mobility in wrists, hands and fingers. It is the perfect size and the fact that the control is on the side, the thumb will do the mouse pointing job with amazing precision with no effort at all, leaving the painful index and middle fingers to deal with the less demanding buttons in the centre, just perfect. I am ordering another one because my mum, who suffers from arthritis loved it and found it easy to use, she can never use the control panel on the laptop but with this one she got used to it within a couple of minutes. Some people on this site commented that it is small, on the contrary, it is a lot bigger than an ordinary mouse and bigger than other tracker balls, exactly how big do these people want the mouse to be? The way it hugs the palm of the hand makes no odd whether it is small or big, unless of course you have giant size hands. One more thing, contrary to some negative reviews that claimed it is not precise and gets stuck, I did not find this problem at all, neither did my mum when she tried mine, remembering that her hands are a bit clumsy. It works immediately and with great precision, as soon as you insert the dongle, no need for installation and it is easy to take it away with you if you are planning to use a public device, the wireless dongle fits neatly in a slot inside the mouse. I am struggling to find one single fault with this product. I recommend this product for anyone who seeks comfort while working and for anyone who feels their pain and limited mobility is restricting their computer use, this is a liberating tool, go and get it.

In generale mi ritengo molto soddisfatto dell'acquisto.

I've been using Logitech trackballs since...
I've been using Logitech trackballs since... OMG THAT LONG! Sept 1994 I went for an interview at a company for my first job in computer graphics - in this case label design. The owner sat me down at a desk with a trackball. What the hell is this thing? Needless to say I loved it and have been using a trackball ever since. Quite honestly I'd trade this USB version back to a corded one if I could still get it. At my desk it really doesn't matter and nothing worse than the couple days prior to your battery actually dying. LONG LIVE THE LOGI TRACKBALL!
