Invaluable
Essential when cutting thick card with a craft knife. Take care not to drop it onto a hard surface as its usefulness is reduced if it gets bent ??

The Maun Safety Rule
After reading mixed reviews for this one I was a bit worried to be honest. I ordered this safety rule on Tuesday, it was dispatched on Wednesday and it arrived today (Friday - 3 days). It was well packaged; sturdy brown envelope and within it had a roll of corrugated cardboard taped around it. Regarding the sharp edges issue which some people have had - yes, it does have sharp edges, but unless you have very soft skin or are about to use it on very delicate surfaces, I don't think they would be an issue. A quick swipe over with a metal file sorts them out in any case. The scale is accurate according to my other rule. As other people have mentioned, the scale on the metric side does only go up to 20cm (the last 10cm being in inches) but as I was warned about that I will leave it with 5 stars. (I do think the description should be changed though, to reflect the fact that it does not measure to 300mm unless you re-position the rule.) I wish I had bought this rule years ago....It would have saved many a sliced finger. If you are looking for a safety rule (i.e. one where you do not slice your fingertips off with a Stanley knife through a moment of inattention) but can use another rule for accurate measurements over 20cm then I don't think you can beat this one for the price.

well tested pattern safety rule
It is a well tested pattern and steel is better than aluminium for cutting tools

Works as intended, very sturdy, good for metal and woodwoek
good for metal and woodwork. it can also weigh down paper very effectively helping you measure a lot more easily. It does state that it is a 'rule' , when it is in fact a 'ruler' as the markings do not begin at the end - it has 'rule' printed on it. This is a minor issue and is very un-noticable

For cutting against it works well, easy to hold while keeping one's fingers out of the way. However disappointingly it fails as a measuring device. I work exclusively in metric and given that the rule is sold as a 300mm rule would have expected it to have a mm scale on both or at least one of the edges. However, one of the edges is in inches, which is fair enough, the other is in mm - sortof. Because bizarrely and for some unknown reason the mm scale only extends over 2/3rds of the length of the rule before changing to inches for the remainder of the edge, which makes it useless for measuring more then 200mm and useless for measuring from both ends without having to flip the rule around. At the very least this rather unconventional (and barely usable for metric users) point should have been noted in the description.
