Cooks meats to perfection!
I have used this grill for well over 2 years and had helped me cook my meats in a healthy and lean way. I like the function that you can set the rarity of how you like your meats with the heat level ensuring food is cooked at the correct temperature whether it is a steak or burger etc. I have even used this grill to cook cheese toasties as well as paninis and always tastes amazing. The plates are of flawless quality and it is incredibly easy to pop them off and use in the dishwasher and fits nicely in most household cupboards due to its compact size. I would highly recommend buying this over a George Foreman grill or any other leading competitors for that matter.

A must in the kitchen
It really is a wonderful piece of kit. I find that Beef Burgers are cooked to perfection, Beef burgers should be cooked till the last setting Red. You can cook beef burgers less if you want to take a risk as some people like them more juicy, but reading up about cooking minced meat if itโs not fully cooked example medium, then bacteria may still be present. Sausages look a touch anemic when cooked but they are cooked fully ok, take off at the last setting Red. Steak cooks very well, just two things about cooking steak, if you like medium rare as I do you have to end the cooking between the yellow light and the orange light as there is no medium rare point on the auto settings, meaning remove the steak before orange sounds, yellow light rare and the orange light is medium. Also you find when cooking steak the auto settings doesnโt always allow you to rest a steak after itโs cooked because for instance if you like medium and the orange light chimes the steak is ready to eat straight away, if you would rather rest your meat take it off just before the setting chimes by watching the colour change, till you get used to how it cooks your steak cut into it after removal till your happy itโs cooked to your preference, then just cook steak to that point every time. Chicken cooks very well, take it off at the last setting Red. Havenโt tried fish yet. A Panini can be toasted also on the grill, if you have the optigrill without the panini setting you can use the bacon setting or the manual orange setting, donโt bother with the colour beeps with a panini, you need to lift lid and look, The bacon setting tip comes straight from Tefal, I find around 8 mins for most Paniniโs with a medium slice of bread, a little longer for thicker bread, Donโt go above one and a half inches thickness, thatโs total thickness of the sandwich because thatโs the max you can go with the Optigrill, that includes anything placed on the cooking plates. I have used the bacon setting for bacon and I find streaky bacon is best to use, With bacon keep your eye on it periodically open grill till cooked how you like it, Try cooking streaky bacon and then take it off and keep it warm, Then change setting Optigrill setting to burger, cook burgers to Red open grill add a slice of cheese and top off with the cooked streaky bacon close the grill for a very short time till cheese starts to melt, remove and enjoy. You can also cook gammon on the Bacon setting, take off at orange medium. So all in all a splendid Grill, occasionally a little trial and error is needed for it to cook to your taste. One last thing the grill is somewhat large and when open the lid has some height to it and also takes some space behind as well when itโs fully up. Please note the lid must be opened Fully each time, so the setting for thickness of meat sets itself up correctly. โUpdateโ I have just tried the frozen setting on the Optigrill, A straight from the freezer 1inch thick Sirloin Steak, and itโs cooked it perfectly, More perfectly than if the steak was fully defrosted before hand, I immediately removed it at medium orange setting and cut into it to see how the grill performed before resting and it was just over medium rare, I let it rest for 5 minutes and it was more to medium, tender and extremely juicy, This has been the best steak I have cooked on the Optigrill so far.

Good quality grill
Bought this to replace my George Forman grill which I find the quality has dropped over the years! So far really pleased with heating speed and ease of controls. Would only advise on buying a cleaning brush to make life easier on cleaning the heating plates

Money well spent
This is a great product. Genuine Tefal quality, I have had this for a few months now and use it loads. I had been considering one for ages but the cost was putting me off as I wasnโt sure if I would use it enough. I finally bit the bullet and am so pleased I did. I am not a kitchen gadget person and wondered if this is what it would be. I can honestly say that this is not a gadget but a key kitchen appliance. It is quite large and bulky, but sits easily and comfortably on the kitchen side, and that is where it should stay. It is not something to be lifted in and out of a cupboard, as you will use it far too often every week for that. It is so well thought out, easy to use, easy to clean and great cooking results. YouTube have a number of videos for inspiration and encourage you to try more than the obvious on it. I certainly have, and wouldnโt be without it now. Money well spent!

Smaller cooking area than anticipated
I bought the Tefal OptiGrill as a replacement to my old "George Forman" grill. The measurements were the same so I assumed the cooking plate would be too. My mistake. Actual cooking area is only L30cm x 20cm. The smaller cooking area is a little awkward for us as we do like large steaks :) PROs: Well made and appears sturdy. Easy to remove plates for cleaning. They are light so easy to handle. I used to hate cleaning my old grill as I had to carry the entire machine to the sink in order to clean the plates. Nice controls and it was easy to remove a steak at the medium setting, then allow the remaining steak to continue cooking to well done. Drip tray fits well and doesn't move. Deep enough to collect the juices. CONs: Small cooking area. So may prove awkward if cooking for more than two people. The LED light is very bright and as it changes colours may, potentially, trigger headaches. We found the pulsing light uncomfortable to the eyes. Overall, excellent little grill so far.

Purchase of the year for me
Purchase of the year personally for me. It's so easy to use and so easy to clean. You don't even need to prepare meat. All I do is that I salt it and pepper it and the taste is wonderful. It saves a lot of time. It takes around 25 minutes from meat in the fridge to meat on the plate. 5 minutes to set it up and warm it up, 20 minutes for cooking. And you don't need to look after it during the cooking process, or turn the pieces. Just put and than get it from the grill when the food is ready. Cleaning is super simple - remove plates and put it into the dishwasher machine. There are couple of downsides though - it's pretty small to cook everything on one attempt - couple of pieces always need second iteration. But it also pretty big so you need pretty big drawer to store it. Another thing to know is that automatic programs are not good for cooking medium or rare steaks - meat becomes overcooked all the time so you'll receive medium well when it beeped about rare state. As long as you need grilled things well it's awesome (like chicken or meatballs or fish). Maybe manual mode will do the job for steaks but I haven't tried it yet. Definitely it's worth the money.

Tefal Optigrill - grilling made easy
I am blind and had the Optigrill demonstrated to me at Blind Veterans UK. For me it is marvellous as once the sequence of keys are worked out then I can grill independently by listening to the beeps. I have been blind 20 years and have never used a grill comfortably in that time because of worrying about eating undercooked food. So I always over cooked food, to be safe. With the Optigrill I can grill confidently and eat food correctly cooked. It is easy to dismantle and clean. One tip is to put a piece of kitchen roll in the drip tray, it catches any fat and so makes cleaning the drip tray usually unnecessary. All in all it is a brilliant piece of kit, well designed, solid and easy to use, even for someone who is blind. How do I use it? It has audible beeps when it is ready to accept the food and then three beeps which signify how well the food is cooked. What could be easier? Apparently there is a visual colour change in the dial at each stage of the cooking process.
