Clay is a part of soil ( sand , clay and silt, depends on type of soil, and microorganisms, organic matter, water, oxygen etc. ) Calcium helps to turn hard clay soil ( very small particles) into bigger crumbs improving aeration and water percolation. This process is called flocculation.

No, it will not remove the clay, infact you would not want to remove the clay as it is very fertile. I don't know what this product contains I presume it is garden lime. Lime is traditionally applyed in the autumn and works by a chemical reaction called (flocculation) this reaction along with winters freezing and thaw this breaks the strong grip which is holding the particles together, quite scientific just look up flocculation and clay soils.
