Pre - Loaded Data SIM Lasts up to 24 months
I bought this to use when on holiday around the UK. Fast delivery from the seller, very simple to set up, I just put it into my TP Link router and away it went. The two years start from the date it is first connected to the 3 network. Setting up an account with 3 so that I could check the data useage was a bit more complicated. You have to use the internet connection of the sim card itself to set it up, once I worked that out it was simple. Just one other thing as with most sims you MUST use it at least once every 180 days or it will expire early. As I intend to have it running as a background backup to my home BB that should not be a problem. As for the 24 months life? well time will tell if thats true. At the price it would be good for ioT stuff as well if you dont want to be tied into a contract. Watch this space for updates later ;-). UPDATE 1: Its been running for over 12 months now and still working well, my expiry is August 2025. As I said above I leave it on and connected 24/7 at home to prevent the sim "expiring". So far very pleased, I will buy another in 2025 as long as its still available and the price is not too high. 5*. UPDATE 2: 19-3-2025, Its now the middle of March 2025 and the sim is still working fine and surprisingly I still have 9GB left, very highly reccomended. UPDATE 3: August 2025 the sim went the full 24gb data amount and I ran it out just a month before the two years were up. Brilliant!

Best value for MiFi/laptop 4G/LTE use on the road
Note: the new 24GB version is probably the best value right now, 2x more data for about the same cost - and lasts 2 years!!! Is there anything cheaper (just over 1 quid per month)! If you are regularly on-the-road and you need to use Internet on your laptop - rather than depend on various WiFi points, having your own LTE link is preferable. While most Cloud/FON/hotels/cafes/etc. connections do work - they are generally open/un-ecrypted and sometimes a hassle. For 2 quid (or so) a month - it is a joy to just connect directly and - 'boom' - you are on the Internet! Of course, nothing stops you to use a WiFi point instead, but if you need it - it is there. I used it first in a MiFi (EE-branded unlocked Osprey) then laptop with LTE connection in towns every time. I also used abroad (Europe) roaming at no cost with decent performance - naturally 3G+ only (not LTE). But I don't think any other UK providers provide free LTE roaming abroad. Still it saves you buying a local data SIM which may be problematic sometimes even in towns. It is particularly nice if your laptop/tablet/etc. has WWAN already installed (or WWAN option possible) - just insert the SIM and there you go. No registration required - great - and you can keep track of data left on 'My 3 Home -> Data Allowance'. It seems to update in almost real-time. If you only use it sparingly, it lasts 12 months, but if you really need to use it all in 1 month (e.g. moving house) then you can. Not particularly cheap - but still cheaper than a contract and any silly data deals are usually short-period (e.g. 100GB EE, etc.) so not really a fair comparison.

Great deal for the money, perfect for LTE tablets/laptops
I bought this data sim to use with my LTE version of Surface Pro 2017. Since I wasn't willing to take on another monthly contract just for my Surface I looked for options without a monthly fee. This was the best option that I found and I believe that it's the best one out there at the moment in the UK. 24GB is plenty of data and will last months when used for normal internet browsing and emails if you avoid videos and large file downloads. So far after a month of almost daily use I still have almost 23GB left. I also like the fact that the data can be used over a period of 2 years, which is plenty of time. The only downside (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that once you run out of data, the top ups are a bit pricey and any unused top-up data expires after 30 days. I would really like for top-up data to last for 2 years, just like the data that's initially preloaded on the card. I think that once I run out of the 24GB of initial data I will just buy a new card, since that works out cheaper than having to top-up the existing one, which is a bit of a shame. In regards to connection quality, I'm getting excellent coverage and speeds in Glasgow. Speeds above 30mbps are nothing unusual and I've measured 60mbps on some occasions. Overall, if you're looking for a data card for your secondary mobile device (i.e. ipad or laptop) and you don't want to pay any monthly fees then this is the best option out there.

Great when on the go or new to wifi
Highly recommend great if new to wifi, these are so easy to use pop them in a mobile wifi router and connect with the routers passcode to anything that uses wifi. these are only data sim cards which has 24gb of data that can last for 2 years ,or as soon as your data runs out. depending what your using it for you might get some buffering which has happened to me a few times,I can watch TV or movies using this and it doesn't use to much data in one go.

DOES NOT WORK
This is my 4th one of these and am more than capable of installing in my car with no previous problems before with inserting in slot toggle mobile data off and on searches and connects THIS ONE all I get is reading sim even after two hours I even set the APN to three.co.uk but still it says reading mobile my car is set up for 4g I put my old card back in toggled mobile date off and then on connects within 15 seconds I will be returning this for a full refund

Good deal for Europe-wide data
I bought a couple of these to use on two vacations we have coming up (I live in the USA) in the UK and other European countries. Good deal since the 12G should be plenty for the duration of those two trips, and it doesn't expire within the usual 30 days so the initial allowance will cover the whole summer for me. I activated one of the SIMs here in the USA to check it worked, and registered on the web site (which is horrible, fwiw). I get roaming service on AT&T's network with HSPA+ here. I did need to manually configure the APN on my Surface3 tablet. I'm not sure if that was because the tablet previously was on the native AT&T network and became confused as a result. Other devices seem to read the APN off the SIM ok. In any event after configuring the APN manually it worked fine. One small wrinkle is that the Three app for Windows shows up as "not available" in the Windows App Store (presumably due to geographic region locking). Update: I used these SIMs in a couple of devices In France for a week and they worked nicely roaming mostly on Bouygues but also Orange once in a while. No LTE service of course but that was expected. Service via HSPA+ was certainly adequate.

Virtually impossible to check the amount of data used/remaining on newer sim cards
whilst this is easy to use and provides reasonably good mobile internet, if you want to check how much data you have used / left or when it will expire its virtually impossible since they stopped assigning a mobile number to the SIM cards. I have had many of these in the past and they always had mobile numbers printed on them .... but not any more, just an ICCID. This means you cannot use the app, the website or even the online chat to check the data status - they just tell you to visit a shop which is not at all comvenient - so beware if you have a newer one without a number on it - keep track of when you last used it (must use at least once every 180 days) and how much you are using ..... I have mine in an iPad and I hope the usage that is showing me is correct - time will tell.

So far it workd as advertised
I bought this card to use in the US and in Europe. Its suppose to be good for an entire 365 days so we shall see if it lasts until August 1, 2020 (if I use data sparingly) 1. Easy to install. I just popped in the new sim card. Turned on data roaming and in a few seconds I was getting data in the US. I have been using it for 2 days now and it is working flawlessly. 2. I tested out its hotspot capability and my wifes samsung was able to link to my hotspot. So that works too. I will report back and let you know how it performs in the long run...and on my multi country trip to Europe Update. The sim worked flawlessly in the US during the 2 weeks I was there. Once in a while i had to restart my phone to wake it up. Update. I arrived in Germany. I RESTARTED my phone, turned mobile data ON and turned Roaming ON..and I got connected. So far so good. (Update) I am now in Italy and the sim is working although not in every spot. Seems like some of the more remote places like up in the mountains while hiking..no data. But in the city no problems. I stopped into a vodaphone store to price compare. They had a deal...2 sim cards...ONLY ONE month service...lots of data...60 euros. A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE!!! (Of course they are in ludington phone calls which this card does not) (Update) I am in Switzerland and still am getting decent connections in the towns and cities. Forget about signal if you are hiking in the hills or away from towns. It works well enough to watch a YouTube movie. I'm using it mainly for Google maps to find train/bus connections and to Google tourist attractions for info and to message my wife if we ever get sepatated So far so good. (Update) works in Metz France. Poor connection outside city In remote rural areas. When I pass the border into a new country I keep getting text messages saying I have a maximum of 15 gigs of data with this sim. Not the 12 gigs advertised. Not sure which is correct (Update.) Working in Luxembourg and Begium. In Luxembourg ORANGE STORES were selling data only sim cards...9€ for 5 gigs for 30 days. So a little better deal than this sim But in Belgium ORANGE was 15 euro for 4 gigs plus 4000sms and 50 mins of calling. So ORANGE was a better deal Works well in Amsterdam Works throughout Spain UPDATE OCT 4, 2021 Going to Europe again so I bought this same 365 day card..12 gigs of data. I tested it in the USA I shut off my Samsung. Removed my old sim Inserted the new sim I just got. Turned my phone back on Made sure mobile data was on And IT CONNECTED RIGHT AWAY. So far so good If it works as well as it did in Europe as it did 2 years ago, I won't have to keep buying sim cards at the end of every month in EU. This card is suppose to be good for One whole Year (total if 12-15 gigs) So if i just use it for maps and sending messages. I should not run out of data even if I am in the EU for 4 months UPDATE DEC. 6, 2021 Just retuened from 2 months in Europe using my newly purchsed sim. I visited 3 countries..Greece, Italy and France and this sim worked like a charm in each country. As soon as the plane landed it texted me to let me know it had switched countries. Its not alwauys fast and occasionally in remote parts of Sicily the connection was poor to none... but it allowed me to buy train tickets, use google maps and google tourist attractions on the go. Now to see how long it will last. Too bad it doesnt work in Thailand which is where I am headed in a month L9ving it

works very well, with a little difficulty to start
I went to UK, Norway and Iceland recently. the card worked very well in all those three countries. The difficulty came when I tried to activate it following instructions that came with the package. Fortunately, their tech support came to help quickly.

I'm giving thus full blown stars bc 2 EZ
I loved that you can buy it, hold on to it for a while, stick it in when in the vicinity of UK ip space and it just works while in UK. Have to come back here to Germany it still just works with the UK number associated with SIM. If this sim works while I travel thru Europe to other places it might be the most valuable overlooked option available. So nice not needing customer service, take tons of selfies or give a scammed wet dream job all your info just to have a backup sim when you travel primarily for directions and built in apps. No clue if the service is the best everywhere though so I may have gotten ahead of myself because of ease of setup and quality data I'm using to write this very review! Recommend over locamobel or Vodafone so far.
