Best money I have spent on a game ever.
I have been a Call of Duty player ever since I have had owned an Xbox 360 3 years ago. I have never been interested in the Halo series in the slightest and have labelled it as a bad, unrealistic game. I will admit that. In recent years Call of Duty has taken a dip in quality and I feel that the makers of the series are rushing to get them out every year so by doing the series is suffering badly for it. So I wanted to find a new game/series that would replace it. I was looking at many games and seen that Halo 4 was £25 which I thought that was a bargain considering the game was quite new. I did some research and found out that a new studio did the game but it was very well received by critics. I ordered it straight away. Since after playing both the single-player and multi-player for a few hours now, I can now admit that Halo 4 is a game that you need to own. I didn't know much of the story behind the Halo series so I whilst the game was installing onto my Xbox ( because everyone knows that installing a game onto an Xbox takes a while) I watched video explaining the backstory of halo. I found this useful and I will leave a link for anyone else who is in a similar position to me. [...] Graphics & Sound. Best looking and sounding game on Xbox I have played. I cannon believe I am playing this on an Xbox 360 at times it looks that good. The sound of the guns can be frightening at times which is a good thing, It makes me want to run away from people. HD is recommended completely. Single-player. I have only completed the first few missions on the single-player so I can't review the story in its full. But the story has pulled me in very well considering I haven't played any other Halo title. It revolves around Master Chief and his computerised companion Cortana. Cortana is slipping into rampancy which is basically condition that programmes like herself constructs after they’ve been in service more than seven years. That is all I can really say unfortunately at this time but it seems like a really good play and I am going to play it till the end definitely. Multiplayer. This I can most certainly comment on. This being my first online halo experience I was a little worried because I honestly thought I would struggle. I was wrong. Instead of being stricken with people camping or just trying too hard. I was greeted with a nice fair balanced game with a number of even weapons and new game types I have never seen before. I have levelled up and went on killing sprees and I have been excited at playing the game. There hasn't been a moment when I have been annoyed at the game because I can understand why I am getting killed instead of call of duty when I am head butting my controller in frustration. I love it so much and it pains me that I am writing this review because I am desperate to get back to it. My only concern about the game is not the games fault but my own. I currently have friends that are Call of Duty players and I will feel quite lonely after a while without having someone to play with. The mulit-player is so additive and fun I can't find this being an issue. Overview. I don't think I will being going another game anytime soon. single-player is fantastic and the multi-player is great I love it and can't recommend this anymore to anyone who has grown tired of the call of duty franchise. 10/10. 'Incredible'

Excellent
When Bungie stepped down from producing the Halo games after the brilliant Halo Reach, for some reason I went off Halo and showed interest in other games. It's almost as if I didn't think 343 industries would be able to hold a candle up to Bungie in terms of a Sequel to one of the most successful game series ever. How wrong I was. After my friend said I was coming out soon and he told me about the trailer and some of the content I took a look at the trailer and my mind changed almost instantly. This game is nothing short of fantastic. For one, Master Chief is finally back and is voice and one liners are as cool as ever. The biggest strength is the graphics, they are the best I've seen, the cut scenes as well are so realistic. No spoilers but the return of the omnipowerful Didact is really special. His voice is by far the coolest now. The campaign is a bit short but on Legendary it is quite long enough, trust me. It is VERY difficult. Multiplayer is mostly similar to Reach's multiplayer, there are of course the Promethean weapons to play with, some of them are really powerful and effective, one of them I can't remember it's name is almost as useless as the M21 rifle in Call of Duty 4. The ending is good because it leaves you with questions and it leads you onto a sequel because remember that Halo 4 is the first of the second Trilogy. So some of the weapons are ok, some are useless, the Campaign is a bit short and you really need to fully understand the entire series story before you play Halo 4, if you don't understan the full story you can easily be lost in the plot. You don't see much of the Didact which is a shame, and Legendary difficulty (unless you are a Halo master) is pushing the frustratingly difficult regions. But these downsides are massively out weighed by the incredible positives. The graphics, the continuing epic story, Master Chief's return, the introduction of the Prometheans, the outstandingly badass and awesomely cool and evil Didact and the improved sound effects make this game totally worth your money, considering Assassins Creed 3 and Black Ops 2 are both still more expensive than this, this game is a bargain on Amazon and I couldn't recommend this game more strongly.

Halo
I recently finished cod mw3 campaign , it was okay but not that something that I would ever play again , I remember playing Halo 1 in 2002 many times over as its campaign was that good , recently bought and played Halo anniversary and loved it and also played it many times. I have to admitt I have not played Halo 4 myself yet, my amazon prime order of Halo 4 should come tomorrow though , cant wait , from the campaign gameplay videos I have seen , it looks and feels stunning , graphics , gun sounds etc , if Halo 4 campaign is half as good as Halo 1 then it is worth £35 I paid for it , sorry but am not into multiplayer that much , its too tense and nerve wrecking for me , campaign and spartan ops I am looking forward to though , I am not a fanboy or something , just love shooters , dont know he details of cod black ops zombies yet but if its good then I would buy it just for zombies as cod campaigns recently have not been that good and multiplayer is not for me. My game arrived today thursday 8th nov , am just amazed , started campaign and wow the graphics, gun play is amazing, love the battle rifle. Cgi cut scenes are amazing, for a moment I thought its real life, lol. If I could I will give it ten stars out of five, also like me is someone is not that interested in multiplayer and just wants to play campaign, dont think just buy it, its worth it just for campaign only and then spartan ops missions are icing on the cake.

A new journey
So recently bought halo 4, had pretty high expectations for this and wasn't disappointed. With 343 taking the reins I was interested to see how they would continue the halo series, it being one of my favourite game series. The story picking up where halo 3 left off, we rejoin the chief and cortana still stranded in the ship forward unto dawn. Their ship ends up drifting towards the planet requiem which belonged to the ancient race known as the forerunners, from this point cortana wakes masterchief from roughly 4 years in cyrosleep and they are thrown into a new adventure. Without wanting to give away to much of the story line, it mainly focuses on the relationship between the master chief and cortana. As the story progresses you get to see the master chief and cortana's relationship develop and see the extremes they will go to to help each other. Overall the story is well thought out and very enjoyable to play through. When it comes to multiplayer, there are some clear changes that have been made, for instance taking a page from the likes of Call of duty with the weapon loadouts, although it has been put in well and doesnt make the multiplayer feel 'un-halo in any way. The multiplayer is also well thought out and has been refreshingly updated with a sort of combination of halo 3 and halo reach elements. Another added mode is the spartan ops, these are split into episodes with 5 chapters in each. There is a small story arch to this mode with each episode having a cut scene to watch before you play the chapters explaining the point of why your going to these places in the episodes. Although I enjoy this mode, it does however have a few flaws, mainly to do with being repetitive, many of the missions will recycle maps from previous episodes making you play the same terrains over again. this gives the slight impression of laziness on 343s part, also every mission essentially has you going to a place kill some enemies walk over here kill some enemies etc, with no real goal to the missions making them slightly bland or boring after a while. However the cut scenes and story arc are just as interesting as the main campaign. Halo 4 overall is a great addition to the halo franchise with a clever plot, strong characters and plenty of online fun. Although I feel it isn't the best of the series, 343 have defiantly shown their worth and am very optimistic to see what they bring in Halo 5!

Fantastic from a long time fan.
I remember playing Halo 1 as a kid, about 12ish, maybe younger. I never had an xbox - parents got me a GC instead. I remember going to a mates house and instantly begging to continue our coop campaign. We must have completed it 3-4 times. I dreamt about the animation when you rifle butted someone. It was THE gaming experience. I pre ordered this game a bit weary. 343 had re-made the first halo which doesn't show at all what sort of direction they were heading in. When their mini web series came out I got HYPED. I started reading the Halo books etc. I saw a few trailers showing this new species/race and was worried. Had 343 decided they were going to rewrite the Halo franchise? Did they feel like they needed to prove something so bit off more then they could chew? No. I digested it in 1 sitting with a friend. Because the Coop skips the intro mission it cuts around an hour of gameplay off - it took us 6 hours to complete. Those 6 hours were some of the best ever I had playing a game. The story managed to tie in with the Halo books and previous games pretty well. The new race was exciting and didnt feel like any sort of gimmick. When we first picked up one of the new weapons I nearly dropped the controller from the awesome animation. This game is filled with fantastic combat and a great story. For Halo vets, to people new to the series (though I'd recommend some background reading to be honest). The online play seems fantastic also, but I havent played enough to really say. I urge you to buy this game, seriously. All my hesitations were put to ease within the first 30 seconds of gameplay, and I am already planning on another run through with the same mate next time he's over.

The best Halo YET
This product is unbelievable and has a substantial difference to the awful halo reach! Multyplayer: Halo never really grasped multiplayer before, it had so many issues like lag, ridiculous health and appalling weapon! But what a turn around this game has made, i always finish top of the leaderboard partly because of the fantastic server connection the graphics and FINALLY they have reduced the health! They have made this game so much more fun to play, and you don't have to scavenge weaponry from of the map floor! It has adopted many new features like custom set ups, crate drops and armour upgrades. The new guns are a blessing, they have added a whole verity of guns, from rifles to launchers, and unlike many cod games it doesn't give you the urge to throw your controller at something! The game dosent feel slow anymore and supports any ability if you are a fan of a fun multiplayer this is the game for you! Single player! There are some issues with the story EG: it can get a little slow and boring and doesn't kick off till late in the game. But it is full of action and has a new enemy and new vehicles to destroy the grunts in! It has twits and turns and gets you hooked in. And unlike cod you don't keep trying to achieve the same thing every mission, you have to destroy shields, weapons, towers and people. I could not stop playing this and completed it in one session. It is the most fun filled roller coaster ride. I can't wait to see what halo 5 throws at us! Conclusion: Buy this game it is far better than any call of duty and is a change from going round failing to slaughter the same guy every mission. GET THIS GAME DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID AND ORDER COD BEFORE THIS!

Halo is back! This time even better than ever before!
I played this game for the first time today with an open mind and all i can say is, Amazing! From the moment you put the disc in and see the almost film quality footage, you know your in for something very special indeed and special it is! The first thing you'll notice when playing the game is how smooth the gameplay is and the sound FX is brilliant. If you have a surround sound system this game really comes to life, the sounds go left, right, behind and the voice acting is very good and not cheesy in anyway. The guns are also very beefy and some of them seriously pack a punch! The shotgun for example when at close range makes the enemy fly back when you blast them with it! As far as i can see all the weapons are much better than the previous Halo games and feel much more powerful, which is a good thing because there are tons of enemy to kill! The vehicles are also great fun and easier to control than the previous Halo games. I can't really review on the online capabilities or what the online games are like because i've yet to try this. I can however see why Halo 4 is the best game of 2012, because it simply is! I used to like and play Call of Duty but after playing this my loyalty is with Halo, especially Halo 4. Great game, Fantastic visuals, Fantastic sound quality makes this game for me 10/10. Halo is back, and it's here to stay and that can only be a good thing.

Hmmm, a difficult one to review!!
OK, bit of background about me so you can get a feel for my personal bias... I like video games. I have an Xbox 360 and a PS3. Both systems have their merits and issues and I do not consider myself a 'fanboy' of either. I have ALL the Halo games and enjoy both single and multiplayer and enjoy the series. I have also bought many of the Call of Duty series of games which have also provided many hours of entertainment. With that in mind, on to the review for Halo 4. As the title says, 'Hmmmm'! I received this game on release day and am probably half-way through the campaign, 4 hours(ish), and have logged about 8-10 hours in multiplayer. I feel by now I should have a well formed opinion but I still find myself thinking 'how do I rate this game?'. I think this actually says a lot. Campaign: I was concerned that the departure of Bungie and the new direction of 343 Industries would mean the end of Halo as we knew it but after jumping in to the campaign it is a pretty seamless transition. If you liked previous campaigns you'll like this. The story is bonkers as normal but it is a fun mix of soildering and vehicle combat and there are new enemies and environments to keep things fresh. It looks great and very polished and the sounds (particularly guns) are very good too. Master Chief returns after the ODST and Reach games and life is all the better for it in my opinion! :-) All pretty good so far and a solid performance in this regard. Multiplayer: Halo is one of the biggest online multiplayer games and this is where things look a bit shaky. 343 seem to have fiddled too much with the core gamplay. The addition of perks, ordinance drops and starting loadouts are all too 'Call of Duty' and alter the core of the multiplayer experience. Not saying this is a bad thing but it does change things up a bit too much for me (and many others from reading comments around the web). Where I think 343 have dropped the ball is by having so many options in the core gameplay but limiting the number of gametypes and maps. The only lone-wolf option at the moment is 'Regicide' which is OK but gets a bit old, especially on the same 2-3 maps. This will change a bit when playlists are updated and of course when MS want you to buy map packs! I wonder how many people will bother though....the team games have more options but a lot of older objective game types are missing. The infrastructure of matchmaking should really be so much better these days but this is the same old creaky system with non-dedicated servers. Instant respawns and kill-cams make everything seem a bit less-Halo-ey and comparisons with Call of Duty will remain a monkey on 343's back, fair or otherwise. Change is inevitable but I can't help feeling that 343 have compromised on the game design to appeal as widely as possible. This will keep Microsoft happy and no doubt it will be a massive seller but for core fans and the longevity of the series I do not see this as a good thing. As time goes on I may revise my review but for now it is more 'meh' than 'wow!' as compared to when I first played Halo 3. Only time will tell I guess?
