Overall it was a good buy and I like the product
I bought this to use for model boat building. Overall it was a good buy and I like the product. It is very easy to set up, clamps very securely, blade change is extremely easy. It cuts wood cleanly and with ease. The big advantage is that it comes with a nice case so after you are done it hardly takes up any space. Setting it up or storing it away takes about 2-3 minutes. It looks very well made and you can connect a vacuum to the underside (very essential otherwise you need constantly to blow away the dust) Now the disadvantages. It makes a bit of noise, not too much but it is not really quiet. There are some vibrations especially with high speed, again not too much and if you use the clamping mechanism it does not affect the cutting. it does not tilt, it cuts only vertically. The mitre guide is too flimsy but then again it does have a crude locking mechanism. The blades are expensive but for my use each will last a long time and I see aftermarket ones appearing. I am very happy with this saw and definitely would buy again. I think that it is good value but only for hobby/modelism, for anything else you need something bigger and more expensive. EDIT: I used the saw to cut a couple of frames. I used an aquarium air pump as a dust extractor and I must say the saw was brilliant. Built quality is excellent as well. Noise and vibrations are not too bothersome. EDIT: I ve been using this for years now. It is good. Not Haegner of course but an excellent buy. Only costed £65 back in 2014!

Useful tool to have
I needed to cut x120, (2mm x 11mm) notches in 9mm thick OSB and also cut x120 Aluminum (2mm x 11mm) into 20mm long strips Although I could have done it all by using hand tools - it would have taken far too long. I came across this tool thinking it may not be robust enough for the job - but it was on special offer - so why not. The first thing I noticed is the high quality of the build of the main unit - the one thing that lets is down though is the poor quality of the protractor which I gave up using. The table is surprisingly robust and even after completing all the cutting showed little signs of wear. I was able to cut the OSB quickly accurately and straight. The Aluminum was a little trickier but if you use a light oil and let the blade do the work then you can get a straight accurate cut. Changing the blades is easy but switching on / off is awkward. The variable speed works well. Overall a useful tool for doing those fiddly jobs and quite versatile.

Excellent saw, absolutely rubbish on/off switch
The actual product is neat, works very well, can be transported easily around the house, (I clamp mine to a small laptop table, and have weighted the back of the table top to counteract the front load weight of the saw, as the saw overhangs by design) I Always attach a vacuum hose when in use, and yes, I can sit on my living room carpet and make no/hardly mess at all and can make small items for my Dolls house. It also clamps very securely to any workbench or full size table with no counterweight needed. I'm going to jump to the On/Off switch, it's absolutely pathetic, using any machinery that can do damage to you, let alone is able to sever your fingers, needs a easily accessible, positive touch On/Off switch, for quick operation. I felt so strongly about it that I wrote to Dremel, (who are in fact Bosch) I asked if there was any add on, or adaptation to allow the switch to become user friendly, or indeed could they tell me if there was any wiring inside the blue switch, where I could screw in a cup hook or similar that I could actually get hold of, I was astounded at their abrupt reply, which basically was, No, and don't modify as it will invalidate the warranty, There was NO Hello, thank you for buying our product, blah blah blah (I informed them I had also bought their 4000 drill, workstation, engraver, multi-vise, router and flexi shaft, along with every accessory kit they do) And I think highly of their products (which I genuinely do) But No, they offered no practical solution, so for that No customer aftersales service, I'd give no stars at all, End product, is that I Had to do something, as I personally could not turn it on or off safely, so I carefully drilled a 4mm hole through the centre protruding blue switch (from top to bottom) and fed a small cable tie through, and secured it in a loose, index finger sized loop, I have now used my scroll saw approx 50 times in the last 5 months, and the blue plastic switch seems man enough to take a drill hole, and has not split, The switch is still ridiculously stiff, (why they've made it like that I will never know) but putting my finger through the plastic cable tie loop, makes the saw usable to me, I just wanted to tell others how I personally overcome the switch issue. Disclaimer. I wish to say I do not condone or encourage any unofficial adaptations to Any power tool or machinery at all.
