We R Memory Keepers - Fuse Mat & Holder

I am so happy I found this tool! It arrived only yesterday, but I already managed to fuse over 20 plastic bags (made of celophane) which were just too big for my needs. This tool can be used with celophane foil and bags which is a big advantage - you may use it to make custom celophane pockets/bags of any size and they will look like factory-made bags. The line fused with fuse tip is very narrow, but it is strong enough to keep my bag sealed. I read very carefully the review with the safety issue and I would like to confirm that with the UK version of this tool one has to be much more careful than with the US one due to a missing metal collar. I use this tool on a very stable base - the kitchen table - which is excellent for this purpose - I can be sure that the tool will not fall off from the tiny stand, because entire cable is placed on the table. Anyway I agree that the US version is designed in a better and more secure way.

I love this tool! Using it for shaker bookmarks, tags and cards. Took me about an hour trying out different page protector sheets to get the hang of it. I found the thicker ones worked better than the cheaper thin ones. Just remember to press down hard with your ruler. The plastics need to be touching to get a good seal. Put some pressure on the tool and don't go too fast or too slow. I only had it yesterday and have made 2 luggage tags, 2 bookmarkers and 6 Christmas tags. Great tool!

Uk to USA difference is USA has two prong electrical plug vs uk three prong. 120 or 240 volts respectively. The Holder is standard design used successfully by many different brands, in many countries across the world. Something the company must supply with hot tools. Common sense implies this is hot work, and used respectively. Simple risk assessment should be practiced. i.e. is this hot? Yes... provide/use protective items safety glasses, heatproof gloves, use in well lit and even surface. Ensure, ventilated area. Monitor those using to ensure safety. Option for those on tight budget... DIY Reflector plate (cut from soda can)and stand can be crafted easily (from single wire hanger). Many YouTube or the like videos showing how... However, I strongly suggest “The accessory Matt w/pocket” is a must. Or any heat safe silicone matt with pocket to hold the tool is equally sufficient. The stand is not the hazard, nor is fuse tool... users get burned when failing to operate properly. Definitely not for use with small children or those with pets in crafting area.

I looked and looked to see if they would fit a standard heat tool/wand and only found people saying no only fit the official tool but i was sure they would it looked right I have a heat tool for setting hotfix gems (its a cheap Chinese generic and definitely was a soldering iron in a previous design) but the threads fit perfectly Im so happy its odd that you only get 2 with the official tool and they are repeated in this pack so you would end up with duplicates its not like its something that wears out very odd decision by wrmk But as it turns out I am lucky enough to get all 4 The best tip i can give is to really let it heat up and keep a scrap to test with before you use it on your actual project

I like this tool but there are some drawbacks. The U.K. version is different to the US model which makes the stand redundant and I feel a health & safety issue. If you compare models you’ll see why the stand was not designed to rest on the U.K. version on what becomes a very hot tool on the stand supplied. They’d have been better off incorporating a kick stand into the U.K. version. When you try to rest the tool it has nothing to grip and can fling at you or be dragged down and fall off on your surface. Like I said a health and safety issue. My ruler came bent and even went rectified I found the slit didn’t allow for enough pressure so instead I used a standard metal ruler I already had. Aside from all that it is a good tool which is made really by the attachment heads since the main tool looks like a bog standard soldering iron. I’ve made a few gifts now and I like the result but I feel this tool is greatly over priced and has some safety issues that need addressing. EDIT: Since posting my review I’ve been in contact with both Amazon and We R Memory Keepers. Amazon requested I return it and are doing their own safety checks. WRMK are also looking into the issues I raised.

Now i have worked with it i notice that other similar oroducts are cheaper and better in work

A great way to make sure your additions are kept safe without having to purchase expensive custom inserts for your binder!

Useful but a bit small for many crafts could be larger

il suo acquisto era d'obbligo..utilizzando il fuse...per i lavori di scrapbooking e cardmaking non potevo non averlo e in oltre l'utilizzo in contemporanea del fuse ha migliorato la prestazione del fuse stesso..che su un altra base d'appoggio non funzionava ed io pensavo fosse una pecca del prodotto..invece no ..bisogna usarlo col tappetino originale e funziona a meraviglia..consigliatissimo

Facile à utiliser. Demande quand même quelques entraînements pour savoir comment doser la vitesse et la pression pour faire de belles soudures selon le plastique utilisé.
