Can this be used by left handed users?

I am left handed, but I use it with my right hand. You could put it on the can and turn the handle backwards and it should work.

Grip the rounded red bit in the right hand with the shiny sharp bit sticking out to the left and point down. Hold the can you want to open in the left hand with the top uppermost. Bring can and opener together such that the shiny sharp bit engages over the lip of the can edge and the point rests on the top of the can. Tilt the top of opener toward you whilst keeping the sharp point resting on the can top; keep firm hold of the can and tilt the top of the opener away from you thus forcing the sharp point through the can top. Repeat this action whilst incrementally turning the can anti-clockwise thus making a series of cuts in the can lid which, if they are joined together, will result in the cutting open of the can enabling the opening or removal of the can top.

Is it dishwasher safe?

I personally wouldn’t put it in a dishwasher. It’s easily wiped clean or hand washed. That said, the handle is enamel coated and the blade is stainless steel with a robust construction so a dishwasher probably wouldn’t harm it. Can openers with moving parts tend to suffer in dishwashers where as this one has no moving parts so should be fine.
