This machine is 240v Amazon have the 220v in error. It is a 3 pin uk plug which will work in UK Many thanks

Is chip extraction good?

No. you definitely need an extractor to take the chips away. I purchased a Draper 10923 50L 1100W 230V Dust Extractor with my Makita 2012NB. Together, the two work really well but you have to keep emtying the bin regularly; it's amazing how much chippings you get from the solid wood. I am really pleased with the Makita.

Is this a Thicknesser/ planer, or just a planer ?

It is just a thicknesser (although in the USA that is called a planer). In the UK a “planer” makes a flat side and edge - this is not designed for that purpose.

what is the maximum thickness of stock that can processed?

I have only planed 110mm but the scale on the machine shows 150mm
