How good is it for use with glasses?

I wear glasses and have no problems. I think it's an excellent bit of kit .

Is the image clear and in focus right up to the edge of the circualr view?

Yes, I've found the image to be clear and in focus for the whole view. The focus screw on top is easily accessible and the monocular can be used with one hand. I use this every day for wildlife watching in the garden - good value for money.

Would this be good for looking at boats from just under 1 mile (1.6km) away?

Im not a boat person but id say yes the optic is clear and bright and they are easy to hold steady even with the 12x magnification. The monocular is excellent value for money compared to my opticron bino's
