Microscale BMF129 Micro Set Decal Setting Solution 1FlOz

I can say nothing but positives for this product. Using Games Workshop decals is very tough as they are thick decals and trying to get them to stay on or look good is tough. I used Micro Set and Micro Sol first to shape the decals and then tried Vallejo Satin Varnish after hearing many recommendations. My decals literally look painted on! they are fantastic and won't peel off. This also makes 2 layered combi-decalling possible. If you are frustrated with decals not going on right, try this product. The best buy I've had since taking up modelling.

Micro Set is used to help "SET" the decals onto the surface of the model kit. It provides a slippery air-bubble-free surface. The decal can be re-positioned to get it into place, and helps it conform over uneven surfaces. Micro Sol is used to "SOLVENT" the decals, i.e., it melts the decal into the paintwork. Once you apply Micro Sol, you have about 3 seconds before it takes effect. The decal cannot be moved so make sure it's in place first. Use Micro Set first, get the decal in place, then use Micro Sol.

After using other brands before, I can say this is by far the best I have used. It allows the decal to be moved easily until you are happy with its position. It dries perfectly with no horrible shine around the decal, and it sets the decals into panel lines really really well. Great for all modellers applying decals!

Works very well with micro sol and helps set the decal for my Warhammer models, this stuff is a lot more effective than just using water as, just using water the decals often peal off and this stuff has gotten rid of many of the issues I had just using water. I recommend using this with micro sol as these products go hand in hand, also one bottle will last you a long time as you need only a tiny bit of the solution per model it doesn't get used up very much at all.

Great stuff, I'm yet to use micro sol, but have been using this set solely and working very well for me

This product is amazing and I very strongly recommend it. It is very useful for making sure the decals do not slide around when sponge pressing them, as well as making sure they adhere to the model properly. A minor thing to consider is it has a strong smell.

Great product, I no longer have to struggle with placing decals and it also softens the decal to give a painted on look

This stuff, especially when used in conjunction with Micro Sol, is just unbeatable when it comes to fitting realistic-looking decals. I have tried others such as Humbrol Decal Fix and setting in Klear - they work okay, but this one is far better imho. For example, I recently built an Airfix Boston MkIII and the wing roundels, applied using Sol/Set, really did look like they were painted on, with the decal showing through all the rivet detail on the wings. Really stunning results. Highly recommended.
