Harney & Sons Decaffeinated Assam Loose Leaf Black Tea Tin, 4 oz

I read about Assam loose leaf black tea in a novel. Curious as to how it would taste, I ordered Harney & Sons Decaffeinated Assam tea. It is delicious. Perfect for me as I need decaffeinated tea, I enjoy using loose leaf teas, and black tea especially.

I've been looking for a good strong decaf for awhile now. Taylors Assam with stevia and milk/almond milk is one of my go to's for the morning or day time, but I've also had a lot from harney and sons that I like and keep on hand. I tried a couple decafs from Taylors and although there weren't bad, they were not what I was looking for. I tried Barry's, and a couple other brands after doing a bunch of research and review reading. I do like loose leaf tea but honestly I typically have my decaf at night when I just want to make something quickly to sit down and relax with so I was hoping for bagged tea. But, I've had some teas from harney and sons that I really liked so I figured I'd try this one and I'm very, very glad that I did. It's strong enough to stand up to sweetener and milk, or cream, and still has a nice, strong tea flavor. Of course with the loose leaf you can brew to your preferred strength, but I don't need to put a ton in in order to get the flavor I like. Bottom line- if you want a strong tasting decaf tea, this is the best I've found after trying several different brands. Makes a nice cup of tea, and I will be keeping this in stock now.

Nice tea. It's really good for a decaf black tea. Usually decaf black tea is not so great, but I must drink decaf now, so I am pleasantly surprised that this is so lovely and delicious. Very good company with teas of high quality.

This tastes nothing like Assam tea and is so unpleasant that it went into the trash after one cup. A good giveaway that this company doesn't understand tea is that they boast about it being hand packed. Why in the world would packing a can by hand be a quality factor? Machines can do it just fine. Where expertise is needed is in the growing, harvesting and processing, also in purchasing quality tea to import. Nice little tin but because the tea buying was such a bad experience, I don't want to be reminded, so the tin went into the trash full of hand packed tea minus one serving. The one good thing about buying this awful tea was getting me to buy all of my tea directly from Halmari. It is the most heavenly Assam I have ever tried. Brewing it once removes the caffeine, so I save the leaves in the strainer for a cup later in the day, same wonderful flavor and no worry about the caffeine.

Tastes much more mild and floral than other Assam tea I've had. It's good, it just doesn't really taste like what I expect from Assam.

I nice stong tea on it's own or with milk and sugar. Great for a late afternoon tea when you want a strong black tea without loosing sleep.

It is hard to find good decaffeinated tea which is different than the typical "off the shelf" brand. I have found Harney & Sons to always have very good quality tea and this Assam is it. The perfect tea for that afternoon when your morning got away from you. You missed your morning strong caffeinated tea that bursts out of the cup. But there is hope for a soothing, gentle but definite slightly smokey notes without the electricity off the chart charge of caffeine. Perfect with one of your home made scones.

I drink somewhere between 6 and 9 cups of tea every day. I enjoy trying different flavors and curing methods - mostly teas without added ingredients. I find this is a very good Assam, a black tea from India, even though it's decaf. Many claim that Assam is strong. It's not weak but it is not over powering. My first purchase was because I was leery of Assam being too strong and opted for decaf. Now, I enjoy regular and this decaf. It's a very enjoyable tea and this is at a reasonable price. Make it by the cup or kettle, I enjoy it both ways.

Maybe my expectations were too high for decaf tea, but it tastes pretty terrible.
