My compass has arrived, the inner scale (degrees) and out bezel do not line up when the compass scale is aligned to North, are They all like this

Hi, I am not sure that I understand your question. On my version the two scales align correctly but are in different units. The inner one is degrees and the bezel is 64ths of the compass circle - this maps on to the full compass rose see my earlier answer. So East is 16 on the outer bezel and 90 degrees on the inner. Both scales rotate together. I know that some models of this type of compass have a facility to back off the magnetic declination but this would adjust both scales. My model doesn't have this function. I hope this helps

What are the black figures around the outside of the dial representing? I can see the degrees in red on the inside.

They are mills. Mostly used by the military, 64 equates to 6400 mills which is 360 degrees

Don’t the hands usually face red for north and white for south? this compass does the opposite, unless i have a duff one?

My one is showing the north with the red part of hand. It is better to check up the compass being far away from electronic devices and it's good to have a couple of more different compasses at home to be sure they are showing the north.
