He is VERY pleased with the product
I originally purchased this for my husband who discovered he had wet macula. I can attest that after the second box of Vision Defender (nearly 6 months of taking them) my husband realized that he no longer has such strong distortion and often seemed not to be there. He is half way into the third box, has no more distortion and had his check up with his optometrist. The 'pocket' that had formed (only way I can describe what I saw on the computer screen in his office) closed up and he has very little scaring. He is VERY pleased with the product. It worked for him!! And compared to the alternative (extremely expensive injections to the eye each costing nearly 800€) very economical. Thank you Vision Defender. Have made an order for my mother as well!

I understand that probably the best that can be expected is that degeneration may be ...
I ordered these tablets after my Optition pointed out early signs of macular degeneration in my retinal photographs, gave me some dietry advice, and pointed out that tablets were available to buy. I picked these ones as they were AREDS2, 1 tablet dose, made in the UK, and are slightly less expensive than alternatives I had seen.I understand that probably the best that can be expected is that degeneration may be halted rather than reversed, and that the AREDS reports show it will work in a significant proportion of users.I initially bought 3 months supply, which was very promptly delivered. Although the tablets are a little large, I find them very easy to swallow. I now already have my second 3 months supply which was aslo very promptlty delivered.I'll keep using them for a year and then have another photo of my retina, and will add a further comment if I am in the lucky group for which degeneration seems to halt.

Will have them again
I was a bit surprised by the size of the tablets, but they are easy to swallow and the advantage of only once a day is a great recommendation. This is about the fourth variety I have used and I like these best. As a vegetarian, I try to avoid gelatine capsules as these are generally bovine based, whilst Vision Defender is compressed powder. Of course, you never can know what they are doing for your vision, but their basis in the AREDS research gives some confidence in this.

I have 8weekly hospital appointments and my sight has not deteriorated
The tablets are quite big , so may give some people a problem to swallow, but so far I manage . I take them for polypoidal choroidopathy a type of wet AMD .They aren’t available on prescription , so I have to budget , but it’s worth it to maintain my sight .

A supplement well worth trying - but, in this form, very difficult to swallow
My partner has recently been diagnosed with dry macular degeneration. We decided to give this supplement a try, as American research results seem really promising. (our pharmacist says it has not yet been passed for prescribing by NHS but encouraged us to try it) It is too early to say whether it is helping or not. My partner hasn't noticed any further deterioration - but obviously this is early days (he's only been on the tablets for a month) and it is only a subjective opinion. For a proper, objective result, we will have to wait for the next scan - which is still several months away. We chose this brand of the supplement as it contains the exact levels of each ingredient recommended by the latest research. (some other makes do not) The main issue with these tablets is their size. They really are VERY big. Sometimes, if they 'go down' at just the right angle, he can swallow them with no difficulty but, on other occasions, he nearly chokes on them! The manufacturers do say that you can cut the tablets into smaller pieces or even crush them. He wouldn't recommend the former as, even using a proper tablet cutter, the pieces end up with sharp, jagged edges, which are even harder to swallow or the latter as he finds the taste absolutely disgusting - and neither seems a good idea anyway, if exact amounts of each ingredient is important. As we have now found another make that not only uses the same, exact, recommended levels but also splits the daily dose between capsules, which are smaller and much easier to swallow - we will be ordering from them in future.

Advised for seniors
Would recommend anyone over the age of 60 to take on a daily basis. Due to the risk of AMD . Especially in ex smokers.

Difficult to swallow
Not sure of the benefits as find the tablet so large it’s extremely difficult to swallow. If broken in two the edges are sharp and unpleasant.

Very large and full of fillers, Celiacs beware
These tablets have a lot of filler celulose and are very large and difficult to swallow. Coeliac disease sufferers may want to not that the Maltodextrin is derived from Corn. This is part of the reply I recieved from an enquiry to the manufacturer. "I have consulted our Pharmacist and I can confirm that the maltodextrin used in Vision Defender AMD is derived from corn and not from wheat or barley. As such, it is considered gluten-free and suitable for individuals with Coeliac disease." Non the less I would urge caution in purchasing these tablets, especially for those severely affected by coeliac, as I heard from one source that no grains are completely free of gluten. There may be other products that contain no possible risk.

Floaters reduced significantly and vision improved
I started getting a lot of floaters lately. The bigger problem was that a blurry patch of vision appeared right where the focus would be. This made reading hard, as letters were blurred, but around wasn’t. 2 weeks after I started taking these pills, I noticed improvement. Floaters reduced and my vision improved. Blurry vision is now gone and I no longer have any problems reading. Great product!
