The best sealant to use with lead
The best stuff for sealing lead into brickwork. Really good quality neutral cure silicone. Sticks well and cures good enough within 24 hours. Make sure to clean out the brickwork joint, and also clean the lead with meths before applying the Lead Mate.

Takes longer to skin and cure than it says!
OK, but takes way longer to skin and cure than stated. In dry, medium humidity, applied at 17C, down to 11C at night, it took six hours to skin (not 15 minutes!) and not come away on the fingers when touched, and a full 11 hours to cure so that it was medium firm (not the full cure, that will likely be a couple more days).

Long lasting and effective
Great long lasting sealant, I was using it up on my chimney stack and checking on stuff put on 9 years ago on a crack in the masonry. Despite the extremes in temp, baking sunlight in 9 summers and -10degC in some winters, and acidic soot running down the stack over it, it was still intact and didn't go hard or crack, so some flex. I've ordered more as handy to have in stock if needing to do similar jobs.

Didn't stick to upper face of brick.
I repointed my chimney but decided to use Lead Mate to seal the flashing. The sealant did not stick well to the upper brick surface, so I had to remove it and use mortar. Also, it was still very soft after a day, though this might be because of the cold weather. I expect this works fine on wood, metal, plastic etc but I think the bricks have to be unrealistically clean. Hence 3 stars, as my situation is just one of many.
