Self tapping screws and does the job perfectly
I got this to restrict a bathroom window ( a fire safety one so opens very wide ) to prevent my house cats getting out plus the wind taking hold of the window when open. Works perfectly . It doesn’t come with instructions however there are some illustrations in the product description, which I followed . Once I positioned the latches installation was easy . They are self tapping screws provided however I did pilot hole mine as it was difficult to get any purchase due to the position of mine . The latch is also easy to take off if you wish to have the window open wider ( which we need as it’s a window that is a fire escape option ) with it being spring loaded . Good value for money but does need some kind of instructions in the pack to improve the overall product

Work Really Well, Slightly Fiddly to Fit
As noted by others, these don't come with instructions - for the most part I didn't mind that as it's quite obvious how they work, but with the exception that no guidance was given as to whether to fit the arm to the casement (the "window") or the frame, however if you look at the images for the left hand product (the HS4318) it does show to fit the arm to the casement, which I definitely agree with as it makes it less fiddly to open the catch, note that I saw another reviewer advised fitting it the other way round, which I think would make it tricky to open. Generally all went fine with installing these, I had seen another reviewer had managed to fit them without a ladder (on a second floor window) - I personally wouldn't advise this! It's quite tricky and I think it will make it more difficult, I used a ladder and it was still a bit fiddly. As noted in one of the images, I had to put a small bit of a plastic in order to move the arm down a bit as it was contacting the pin at the top bit (the part like a mushroom) and wasn't closing well, I just used a bit of plastic trunking to do this, and I fitted it to the casement part purely because it makes it less visible. A good bit of advice would be to do a dummy run on a downstairs window because then it's less stressful to figure out all the alignment. If you have some double-sided sticky tape to temporarily mount the arm and pin that would be great as it would let you test closing it too. I did have a bit of an issue getting the bases of the pins to sit in the window frame - you'll notice that one of the images I've uploaded shows the base of the pin to have some slight damage - this is from having to use a screwdriver and a bit of hammering to get it in, and you might also notice a (admittedly very tiny) amount of deflection in the plastic frame, this is because the base of the pin was ever so slightly too large for the euro groove in the frame, and as such it got deflected a bit. Also of note is that the screws - one set (I can't remember if it was the left or right handed one) came with brass screws, whereas the other came with nickel screws, which I thought was a bit rubbish! I ended up using the brass screws for the arms fitted to the casement, as you can't see them, and used the nickel ones for the pins which you do see. All in all I do really like - a very very tidy way to child-proof your windows, and I don't think the installation was excessively fiddly (I think some fiddling is to be expected), but I'll mark down a star due to the screws and lack of instructions.

Works well
Easy and quick to fit. It’s a simple, neat and clever design. Could include a longer version to enable a wider opening. Good value for money.

Functions ok, but
This is the second of this type of catch I have purchased. The first was of better quality. I have fitted this one successfully, and it does function. But unfortunately this purchase came without instructions, so you have to rely on the fotos provided by Amazon and your skills if you have never installed one of these before.

Nice restrictors.
These are good restrictions. Needed them to fit to first floor windows for a rental property. Can be a little fiddly to fit, and I found that a couple of them needed some extra packing. Once fitted, they do the job though.

Poor quality. Do not buy.
Poor quality. Bought three. One catch was missing, one catch broke immediately. Too fat to allow my windows to close when fitted (didn’t realise until I had fitted). Straight in the bin.

Easy to install
Does exactly what I wanted. We had a window which opened very wide and wasn’t safe at all with a little one, now we are able to open the window slightly to let some air in while knowing our child is safe.
