Easy to use & Works Well
Dithered for years over buying an ice maker and finally found this one at a very good price. The unit fits on the work top no worries, it's about the same size as a bread maker so it goes under the microwave no bother. The cable is a reasonable length and it's quiet in operation. When you start making ice the first few drops of "cubes", they're actually more like thimbles, will be smaller than the full size. I usually fill up the water trough, and leave the machine to run for half an hour, then pour the made ice back into the water trough and leave it to run. The ice then seems to reach its maximum size. Wait until the basket is full, bag up the ice, and stuff it in the freezer or use it straight away. I'll leave it running for an hour or two doing its thing. You can get initial ice in really just about 10 mins. Small thimbles to be sure, but they are ice and they do work.I normally make two medium freezer bags worth of ice and then drain the machine, clean it up and dry it off, and put it away until I need more ice.I'm very happy with it. Great price, quiet, quick-ish, and good ice.

Fantastic ice maker compact and efficient
Absolutely fantastic little machine compact and efficient. Speed of ice making is much better than I expected. I have bagged up some for freezer but the basket does hold ice for a while. Of course this shape ice melts quite quickly in your drinks but overall am very pleased with my new gadget! More ice anyone?!? 👍🏻

Perfect
This is my first ice making machine, so I have nothing else to compare it against. Because of this, I spent a while wondering whether I really needed one and whether it would suit my needs. The first day with it made we wonder if I'd made the right decision in spending over £100. The first run of ice was slightly watery and disappeared soon after putting in a drink, and it seemed very slow. Around 8 cubes per 15 minutes. I then had problems getting it to switch to small cubes. Whichever setting (small or large) I chose, the resulting ice was all the same size.Things improved the next day, and have been great ever since. The size selector works fine, the ice is much firmer, and the speed seems a lot quicker. Certainly can keep two people drinking with lots of regular ice going as long as you want it to.I found it to be much quieter than some people have claimed it to be. Although, it does make me jump when the next batch of ice cranks into action late at night from the kitchen!I put the ice into plastic bags to place in the freezer. Due to the lack of refrigeration in the machine the ice is usually slightly damp when you remove it and ends up sticking together when you return to the freezer to get it. Nothing a quick bash on the kitchen units won't cure though, so not a problem at all.The ice scoop is better than I expected it to be. It doesn't leave you chasing ice frantically trying to collect it, it does a pretty good job with minimum fuss.Only day one provided me with any negative thoughts about this. Now I can't find a fault.I bought a car the same week as I got this, and I raved about it much more than I did my £7.5k ride!

Does not self cleaning like it says it does
Although a great machine and makes ice quickly, doesn’t take up to much space on the counter top but where it disappointed me was the reason we bought it. It was described as self cleaning … definitely not true. You still have to wash and clean it out yourself , dry and if not in use used bicarbonate soda to kill off any bugs etc. little disappointing on this front

I didn’t know I needed one of these, just the job !
Set up of the Andrew James ice making machine couldn’t be easier.Once I’d wiped out the tank, allowed the refrigerant to settle I filled the reservoir with a couple of litres of clean cold water and I was ready to go.It took approximately 10 minutes to quite quietly produce each batch of 9 ice cubes, which aren’t enormous, but perfectly adequate to chill a drink.I can recommend the Andrew James ice cube maker.

DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS MACHINE!!!!!!! ZERO STARS!!!!
Purchased in July 2013 used for three months with absolutely no problems loved it...packed away until May 2014...cleaned filled up and the red light for water comes on.....its full!!! Turned it off let it reset and then let it do the job of making ice.....seemed to be working ok...left it went in the garden came back and the mechanism that pushes the ice into the basket is not working...e-mailed Andrew James UK Ltd very slow on reply....(I could not e-mail back straight away as I had a spell of sickness) eventually I e-mailed them...no reply so had to telephone them...now waiting for a collection label to be e-mailed to me!!!! Apparently a repair will be done if it can or the unit will be replaced.....I will update on what happens next as soon as... UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>>>Unit was collected repaired (so they say) returned 3 weeks later, put it on it did one lot of ice and exactly the same thing happened, asked for a brand new unit or a refund, no! unit collected 'again' repaired (by the same tech Jessica) and returned 2 1/2 weeks later...working at the moment intermittently...will update when it conks out againReturn it yet again!!!!!! For what...you to keep it a couple of weeks and just send it back to the 'wrong' address stating that the motor has been replaced!!! This ice maker has not been fit for the purpose for 9 months of its 1 year warranty...do you really think that is good enough??? Do you think it is good enough to expect me to parcel it up for a third time, arrange collection from somewhere else yet again (because I work) Do you think its good enough that I have spent £129.99 on something that I cant use??? Do you think your customer service is good??? I certainly do not...I have an extremely long ex retail background and this item would have been replaced when it first went faulty, the companies I have worked for value the fact that goods where bought from them and provided top quality customer service to keep their customers happy, because they wanted those customers to come back time and time again...You as a company obviously like to take the money and run...and do not give two hoots about how you treat your customers and wether they will come back to you.THREW IT IN THE GARDEN AND SMASHED IT TO PEICES...WILLNEVER EVER EVER BUY AN ANDREW JAMES PRODUCT AGAIN...APALLING COMPANY TO DEAL WITH!!!!
