OXO Good Grips Apple Divider

I bought this apple divider to help speed up the process of making apple-based desserts. Prior to this purchase I was using OXO's own apple corer. However I often found that you could partially miss the core and cut in to the apple if the corer wasn't positioned completely straight thus wasting time, effort and apple (not to mention, you would still need to divide the cored apple). Then I came across this apple divider by OXO and I have so far been impressed. Soon after delivery, I used this apple divider to core and divide 10 Granny Smith apples for use in a home-made apple pie. Every single apple was cored and divided swiftly and precisely, saving me a lot of time. You can tell that this divider has good build quality and has been designed for ease-of-use. The metallic blades on this divider aren't particularly sharp, yet they effortlessly slice through apples like a knife through butter. I was kicking myself for buying a corer and not buying this (2-in-1) divider in the first place! Would recommend to bakers as well anyone whose diet includes eating apples regularly.

Love this OXO apple corer. Its easy to use. Strong and sturdy. Leaving the core intact in the middle. I have given 4 stars though as it doesn't have a plastic round, protective tray / guard that you cut onto, to protect surfaces meaning a cutting board not required. It provides a guard when it's in the drawer and also for taking out on picnics etc... I've luckily kept my old tray from a previous branded corer as I feel this is an essential part of the product but is sadly lacking from the OXO one. Just a small thing but the cutter / corer itself is sturdy and strong.

Brilliant gadget, love it. Well made, easy to use, especially for arthritic hands, and slices through an apple in seconds. Would recommend.

This cuts apples with minimal effort. Just line up the central part with where the core is and push down hard. I found it easy but I do suspect that anyone with arthritis or similar problems might find it hard. The apple pieces are nice and even and only one had a little bit of residual core left on it. I suspect it is a case of practise makes perfect. I tried it with medium and large eating apples and it was large enough to cope but is not large enough for a larger cooking apple such as a Bramley. The device is easy to wash and seems solid and well made - but only time will tell.

Ein weiterer großer Vorteil des Apfelschneiders ist seine Vielseitigkeit. Neben Äpfeln eignet er sich auch hervorragend zum Schneiden von Birnen oder anderen Obstsorten mit ähnlicher Größe.
