Philips AZ127 Portable CD Player with Radio, Cassette, Dynamic Bass Boost, Audio-In (3.5 mm) , Silver

Perfect small lightweight radio/CD/tape player (for me); top loading cd player makes it easy to use. I haven’t tried it on batteries, so can’t comment on that. I bought it from Amazon Haul- yes the box had a bit of damage but the player was perfect.

This little player-Philips AZ 127/05 Silver Portable stereo CD/Cassette, FM Radio is an excellent all-rounder, and was very good value, especially when bought at a very reasonable price and service from a seller on EBay. There is even an input jack socket, with which I can play my Mp3's. Purchased as new, a few weeks ago, the unit has become a valuable part of my portable home entertainment. It also has a very attractive rounded modern designed body. Listened to close-up, about a foot from the front, a stereo image is produced. I also find the volume good enough to cross a medium size room, but a potential purchaser would miss the boominess of a professional hi-fi. Criticisms of the model, not the unit, are that it has a poor lower bass, (although a good, stable, high treble). It does not have a facility to record. You will not get true stereo from greater distances. There is also no headphones socket , nor carrying handle. Thanks Philips,seller, EBay and Amazon for a great, little sale.

I bought this mainly to play talking books in my bedroom. I wanted something that would play those on cassettes as well as on CD. This player has proved very useful in allowing me to play the talking books as well as music CDs at night. The sound quality is good and it is quite a neat, good looking. and compact wee player. I don't particularly use the radio function because I already have a DAB radio in my room but the radio on this player works alright. The only drawback for me is that it does not play MP3 CDS To be fair the description never claimed that it did play MP3 CDs and I bought it anyway, so I suppose I shouldn't complain, but I do find the fact it doesn't a bit of a nuisance.. Otherwise pleased with it and think its good value.

The only thing I don't like about this music box is tuning the radio. Its awful. The stations do not show up on the front screen like you'd expect, you have to look through a tiny pea-sizes hole in the side of the machine. Anyone with failing eyesight would never even see it. There also doesn't seem to be any way of saving your favourite station? Plus because the radio station doesn't appear on the glass screen, so you don't even know what station you are on unless the presenter announces it!

It’s work

Ordered this and it arrived the next day. It's slightly smaller than my last player, but it has a powerful, clear sound and would be ideal for the kitchen or bedroom. The only thing is, I noticed in the reviews before I bought it, that some people couldn't agree as to whether or not it had a headphones function. It's not mentioned in the product description, but it most definitely does not have one, which seems a bit unusual these days. It does have an Audio-in function which looks like a headphones socket. So, if you want to use headphones, you'll have to look elsewhere. If, however, that's not a concern, then for the price, this is an excellent CD/cassette/radio player.

What I like about about this neat little machine is the shuffle function, so I can listen to my jazz cds with the numbers played in a varied order. I'm also pleased about the tape deck, which means my valued casettes are usable again. As to volume and sound quality, well its a very modest player so you can't expect a lot in that department. But I was pleasantly surprised that the sound is not seriously tinny, the player has a smooth, pleasing tone and quite good volume. The extra bass function adds little and isn't worth bothering about. (The radio I don't use.) If you install 6 x R14 batteries, you can carry the player into the garden by means of the cavity handle, the CD continues to play even when the player is carried on its side. This player is OK for an average room where you dont need a huge blast, Im glad I got mine, it fits my requirement. Am nevertheless upset, the Amazon price went down by 10 quid on the day it arrived. I call this player good value

The CD player part was the only part that didn’t work. Radio and casette was perfect but CD just wouldn’t play anything
