Q: Can I use this on my Cello fingerboard?

I use mine on my Mandolins both of which have ebony fingerboards, my Tenor guitar and Ukes which all have Rosewood fingerboards. If the Cello is either woods then it should be fine, but there are so many different types of wood being used now some of which have a 'permanent' finish to artificially darken them. I wouldn't use it on those as the product may lift the surface colour off. I'm guessing that a Cello will have a good ebony fingerboard, in which case it would be fine. Be careful with the amount, as a little goes a long way. I put mine on with a soft fluff free cloth and gently work it all over, then wait for about 10 minutes, and then wipe all the residue off. I've been using it for about five years and it's great. I usually do it when I'm re-stringing about four times a year. I'm in the North of England. Hope this helps. David 😎

Q: Can this be used on maple fretboards?

Generally no. Rosewood and ebony fretboards are unsealed - no varnish. The wood therefore needs nourishment to prevent drying out, shrinking and cracking. That is what this oil is designed for. Maple fretboards however are varnished, and don't need oiling, and it wouldn't penetrate into the wood anyway. The varnish on maple fretboards does become scratched yellowed and grubby, only some of which can be cleaned off, and this oil isn't designed for that.

Q: Anyone has an ingredient list for this?

No ingredients are listed on the bottle except that it contains petroleum distallates, these help the oil in the product seep into the wood pores by 'searching' into them and opening them, the oils being too dense to naturally find their way in by themselves so they are partly diluted by the Petroleum distallates, the oil is probably a plant based oil.
