Great quality and works!
After reading other reviews, I have to agree that the quality and functionality is accurate and solid. I think the only difference in ratings may be more on the questionable price or location for the keys to be cut. Many suggested ACE hardware, locksmith, or going to the dealer. First we tried out local ACE Hardware. Nope, they don't cut those keys. Next we went to the dealer. Our Chevy dealer in Shelbyville, TN was happy to cut the keys for free. I had already explained to my husband how other reviewers mentioned the self-programming aspect...and it worked. Programming our 2012 Equinox: Insert old key in the ignition and start the car. Wait about 5 seconds, turn car off, and remove key. Insert "newly cut" key. Start the car, wait 5 seconds, turn off car, and remove key. Repeat for additional keys. By the way, our "self start" on the new fob works perfectly! Simply click "LOCK" twice, then hold down the auto start button. (It's the one under the lock button that looks like a broken circle.") To turn the car off, hold down the broken circle button again. Just as others though, holding down the "open trunk" button does not work for us.

The buttons , they work.
2010 Chevy Equinox with common key fob issue; rubber buttons disintegrated after years of use. 2 uncut keys arrived in foam envelope packaging. Nearly identical weight and texture to OEM key. Missing Chevy or GMC logo from back of key. I had 2 old keys and 2 new keys . Doing 1 key at a time i was able to swap key blade from old key 1 onto new key 1 and use the old key 2 to aid in programming. Move onto building new key 2. Using newly assembled new key 1 to program new key 2 to vehicle. Both keys programmed just fine, have had ZERO issues with locking / unlocking or starting the vehicle. Local locksmith can cut key blanks to match your specific vehicle if old key blade is not accessible or damaged.

Works easy program but made poor.
Just purchased this key fob and it works great. The setup was good. I was able to take it to the locksmith, and have him cut the lock. The only thing or only problem that I have is that the hole that you put a ring through is too narrow. And when you put the wrong size in there cuz, you don't want to put a cheesy or cheap one through the hoop. Because you want to make sure you secure it. It comes apart, it separates and it separates very easily to the point where if you're not careful, the spring and the flip up mechanism for where the key is place. That will separate, so buy us beware. The key fob works, it's a good deal. That was the only problem I had with. It was that it's it does separate very easily. So I wind up having to put tape on the side, not to make it look too bad.N

Good Price - But, might be an issue with key flip/gear
So, the key fob comes with all the internal boards/battery - obviously need the key cut if needed. Here was the issue, the mechnaism that flips the key out; was cut different than what my orignal factory key had. So, I had to use the new key gear/spring. In this case, I had to knock out the pin that holds the actual key in on my old key/new one to put in my key. This is NOT an easy process if you have to do that. I wound up having to drill out the small pin hole because I could not punch it out. This is obviously not a fault of the seller of the key - but definately a flaw in design. The only reason I didn't give a good rating as this gears were not aligned/drilled the same as the factory - They were off by a little bit. (if I could've just taken my old key out and put it in the new fob; I would've had it done within minutes.) Other than that; the product is a great deal for the price.

Not for a 2019 Impala
For clarity of explanation of programming, I highly recommend the YouTube video by PYR automotive, “How to Program a Chevrolet Impala Smart key Remote Fob”. Couldn’t be explained any better. Still it’s easy to fail (Don’t forget to use the Fob to lock the car to finish the procedure). Allow a lot of time. Still perseverance will be rewarded. I think I tried three times before I got it right, but the first try was according to a different instructor. In all about 2.5 -3 hours for me. That was okay this time because I was hanging out in the Walmart parking lot while the wife was shopping. Actually made the waiting a little better. Before you try to program the fob you need to get it cut (copying) the cut from the other key I hope you have. Search for an “automotive locksmith”. Pretty sure it can’t be done by the box stores or kiosks. There comes a time in the procedure when all existing key fobs will no longer work. So you need to have them all close by for the programming. After my second attempt, I was in a car in the Walmart Parking lot Saturday night at 10:00, and realized I no longer had a working key for my car. A little bit of an adrenaline. Third time was the charm. Proved it when my old fob started working again. But the new one would only lock and unlock doors. It would not permit starting. Two came in the package. And I also have a 2014 impala. Which is different because it is not a push button start. Call me a glutton for punishment, I’m going to give it a try. As for the 2019, this afternoon I stopped at the dealer, provided the VIN, bought a GM fob and have confidence I will be able to program it after it’s cut. I suppose getting it cut could be considered optional. Problem is you don’t want to be locked outside your car with no power. Only time you ever need it to be cut.
