Style and plenty of substance.
I had a brief foray into Fuji ownership with an X100 a few years back. A fantastic machine with IQ far above its price range but frustratingly slow and with various firmware features (freezing up, and needing a battery out reset) that didn't make the ownership experience fun. My desire for a more compact system took me away from Nikon DSLR to M43 with an Olympus E-M5. After a very brief move into FF with a D750 (Quality issues, 1 broke and the other had the flare issue, very disappointing) i made the mistake of handling an X-T1. All i can say is 'what a machine'. Build quality is fantastic. It's compact and solid and feels very robust (apart from the memory card cover). The lenses feel great, again solid and well built. The handling is good, quick and snappy autofocus and i do like having all the external controls. To me i find it very easy to see at a glance what the settings are before lifting the camera to my eye. Image quality is extremely good - i can't really fault it. Images are very usable at ISO 6400 if you need to go that far (and any noise can easily be dealt with in PP). I've not had any issues with RAW files either. I use Lightroom for PP and it seems to deal with the images very well (albeit slightly slower than with other cameras) - there seems to be a lot of debate on the various forums over how well the X-Trans files are dealt with but i've not found cause for complaint yet. Buggy and annoying firmware features are a thing of the past - this is a responsive and intuitive machine. I took advantage of the Fuji cashback promotion and ordered the X-T1 body, the 18-135 and 35 1.4 (ÂŁ400 cashback - very nice). The 18-135 is nicely built, weather sealed and performs well. A great general purpose lens. The 35 is sublime. I'm sure the 56 1.2 will be added at some time and i'll be waiting for the 400 due in 2016 too. Downsides - Battery life is pretty low. I bought a few Ex-Pro equivalents and these seem to work just as well as the Fuji original at a quarter of the price. Just take a few with you if you've got a day of shooting. The strap - pretty crappy for a premium camera. I've replace it with a leather one from Deadcameras and this is perfect. Very comfortable and rather nice looking too ! Overall i'm very pleased. It's a lovely machine to take pictures with, small and light enough to easily fit in a small bag and carry around. If you need ultimate versatility to cover every shooting scenario (especially low light sports) then a DSLR is still the best option, but this machine will enable you to take fantastic photos, covering most scenarios and have a lot of fun in the process. Add in Fuji's commitment to firmware updates and a very nice selection of glass and that's what makes it a winner for me.

Five star camera!
This is without a doubt a great camera, I love it. Its very well made, a great range of lenses is available for it and the support from Fuji is very good. I sold my FF Nikon SLR camera after trailing this camera and I have no regrets. The mirror less design makes this optically great camera small neat and light. The retro design is brilliant and the ability to check all your major settings by a quick look at the clear dials on the camera is very useful. EVF is big and bright and very useful. Due to its size anyone with large hands should definitely try before they buy! Arrived on time well packed.

Great camera let down by poor AF
A great camera let down by poor auto focus. If your life depends on nailing a photograph, this camera in not for you. Apart from the disappointing AF and some odd ball software issues, this camera is fun to use and can produce great images when using good glass. If you are looking for a compact camera then the XT1 is worth a look.

One of the best camera available
One of the best camera available, I bought it for a very good price, the only problem was the shipment. I bought it from UK to Italy, and I can understand that it may take a while, but I ordered the camera the 18 of December, with a approximate arrival from the 28/12 to the 9/01, and it arrived the 11/01 without any information available. There was no other shipment possibilities other than that. Among this, everything was fine, no damages or similar.

Report on Fujifilm X-T1 camera body
The camera body I received had previously been opened and some of the settings were not as a new camera should be, even the date had been changed, which on a new camera is always set to zero. As I had paid for a NEW camera I was so disappointed to receive a USED one. I have since purchased a NEW Fujifilm X-T1 camera from a reputable photographic dealer.

Broken X-T1
I'm sorry to say that my X-T1 broke down after only about eight weeks. When i bought it, I thought it fantastic. So great that I also bought, within about three weeks, the 55-200 zoom, the 10-24 and the 60mm macro. I know, it's a lot, but being old told self, soon be dead, so why not? Loved it, but while trying out tele zoom it suddenly stopped working. Went to manual but refused manual instructions. Showed F0 in viewfinder. Spent couple of hours trying to sort it out as thought had pressed wrong buttons, but local shop told me it was bad connectors. Had bought it from Amazon and realised they had 30 day rule so sent it to Fuji. Then, as had so many lenses, bought X-E1 from local store for ÂŁ299 with very good deal on recently bought Canon 100D. To my grateful surprise, the X-T1 came back from Fuji in a week, all postage etc paid. Hadn't even had time to try out E1. But, when I tried out 'repaired' X-T1 in garden, it did a few shots then showed just the same fault, ie couldn't take photos, not focus, not set apertures, hopeless. This time, i got in touch with Amazon, keep searching their sites and eventually, after sweat and tears, you'll find a surprisingly good help service. They immediately said they'd replace the camera, but there was a 3 month wait for a replacement, so I asked for a refund. Hurried to my local dealer and bought new X-T1 body + 35mm F1.4 instead of kit. Got home and belatedly tried out tele and wide zoom on E1. Both were very slack, so much so that changing the zoom made a perceptible jerk in the mount. Thought it was the camera, but no, as also on new X-T1. Took lenses back to local dealer, who at first didn't want to change ithem, 'You can't expect a Fuji mount to be as good as a Canon or Nikon' said the assistant. They did change them, but it's a sorry story as I've spent the better part of four grand on Fuji stuff and so far, all I've had is hassle. I do have a Fuji X-10 bought for about ÂŁ350 and it's been brilliant. Needless to say, I wouldn't buy an X-T1 again, or the lenses. I'm hoping that all will settle down now and the camera plus lenses prove great, but every time I pick it up I expect it to go wrong.
