How to stay on flame mode? I want them for outside lights. But only want flame mode.

The modes are set based on how many times you flip the light switch. I not for sure but flip quickly twice for flame mode. Once you have the mode you want you can turn on and off without the mode changing (as long as you don't have a toddler who loves playing with light switches then it's always a surprise... Lol)

What kind of lightings did you ever use for your house exterior for Halloween decorations?

I didn’t use any special lighting. The lighting you’re inquiring about would be great for Halloween! I love ours because it gives a gas lantern look.

Will they work on a dimmer?

I don't see why not. Yet, I'm not sure how well it would work. For what reason would you need already dim lights more dim.
