Organic Nutritional Yeast

These are a very interesting nutritional yeast flake, in my opinion. They have a taste similar to a good sharp cheddar cheese, but are flaky like grated Parmesan cheese. They are a wonderful addition to my daily salads or soups,as they are that easy to use, and the smell is much like grated cheese. I just enjoy the fact their healthiness, being non-fortified, and easy to use as an additive to many different dishes.

I’ve been loving this nutritional yeast! The 2-pound bag is a great value, especially if you use it regularly like I do. I specifically wanted non-fortified yeast because I prefer getting my B vitamins from whole foods and supplements I can control, not synthetic additives. This gives me peace of mind, especially since I’m mindful about my nutrient sources. The flavor is nutty and savory, perfect for sprinkling on popcorn, pasta, mixing into sauces, or adding to any meal or snack for more flavor. Plus, it’s packed with vegan protein and naturally occurring B vitamins, making it a clean, high-quality pantry staple. Highly recommend if you’re looking for nutritional yeast without the extras.

Love this in coconut milk sauces and curries. Nice cheesy taste and added mild flavor plus natural Vitamin B12.

Huge bag and much cheaper than buying the small containers from the grocery store, with the same amazing taste!! It even comes with a little scoop!

Knocked off a star because it's hard to believe it's that much more expensive to produce this than the non-organic. More than twice as much per pound. Maybe has to do with various scale of production issues? Just feels like price gouging/gentrification of organic food. It's great having a non-fortified option, and even without the synthetic vitamins, this nutritional yeast is naturally rich in nutrients. I have been buying this product for years, but because of the price, we still buy a lot of the non-organic, too. Perhaps we all should listen to Russell Blaylock regarding excitoxins, and not have this kind of food in our homes, anyway. The taste is good, but can take an adjustment in expectations vs. the taste of the more readily available Red Star fortified/non-organic. Everyone in the family is used to it now, and some prefer it.

Wow, I was one of those who complained about the taste of these yeast flakes. I had been using Braggs, which may have impacted how the flavor of these hit me initially. Initially, it tasted too sweet and off somehow with kind of a chemical after taste. I ran out of Braggs and saw this bag just sitting there, so gave it another chance. It is now my preferred brand! I still keep Braggs on hand, but they are so different. I swear this is going to sound crazy, but for me, the flavor of this nutritional yeast reminds me of the Japanese sushi delicacy, Uni. (Very fresh Uni.) I put it on my air-pop popcorn and it is fantastic! I would say to anyone who's initial impression of this nutritional yeast is YUCK! Maybe give it some time and see what happens.

I like that I'm not overloading myself with too much vitamin B when I eat these. The cheesy taste (with salt and oil) is delicious. My husband has never liked the smell of the nutritional yeast I had before, which was always fortified. He notices a big difference with the unfortified ones, both this brand and another one, and doesn't mind the smell.
