Amazing product for my son with dysphagia
My son has used this since he was a year old (he is now 5). Before this, he used the gelmix. It is easy to use, tasteless, goes down smooth. We use it to thicken flavored water for him because thickening regular water doesn't taste good. It gets clumpy sometimes but nothing too bad. We love it. We do wish an HSA or Medicaid could pay for it. But we love this product.

Great for toddlers with dysphagia, wish it was more affordable, slight pain to mix
Thank goodness for this stuff! All the other thickeners on the market are for 2-3yrs and up and we needed an option for my 1yr olds with aspiration dysphagia. Even though thick it can be used with younger than 2 with a doctors guidance, it is too harsh on little tummies that struggle with gi issues. Purathick has been great without causing any gi upset and doesn’t continue to thicken over time so not a choking hazard for littles. However, because I have twins that both need thickened to level 3 honey, it is extremely expensive for us. We go through a container of 4oz at over $22 a container in 4-5 days. We’re spending over $120-$160 a month just in thickener so that our toddlers can safely have water/liquids. I wish it was more affordable as it is a medical necessity for our kids. I also wish it was flex spending eligible, but haven’t found that to be true. For using it, you definitely need a frother. It does not stir or even shake well. Even with a frother, if you pour it in and then try to froth even 30-60seconds later, it will clump up and not fully dissolve to thicken properly. You have to pour in while frothing for it to be best dissolved and thickened. This can be a slight pain as if it doesn’t dissolve you have to do extra testing/clumps the syringe tester/need to add more for proper thickness.

Best clean liquid thickener for cold liquids
I have been trying to figure out the best way to thicken my son’s liquids that didn’t include so much gums and toxic thickeners, this is what I ended up with. I found the best method was to use a frother AS I POURED the thickener in the milk. This made a huge difference in clumps! The video shows how I do it, and then I worked with my son’s medical team to find the best way to feed it to him as well.

No le encantó a mi toddler, sí cambia el sabor del agua, sabe cómo harinosa y después de unas horas lo espeso se va y queda una consistencia líquida/viscosa extraña.
