Carson OD-14 Clip and Flip Hands-Free 2x (+4.00) Magnifying Lenses, Grey

I use these for modelmaking, and find them utterly indispensable. I hate using head-mounted magnifiers as I find them bulky, uncomfortable and annoying. Also, if I am filming my work and working close up to the model, all the camera sees is a big derpy magnifier getting in the way. Also they can be a pain when already wearing glasses. These flip magnifiers are a great solution for glasses-wearers as they simply clip on to the frame and are good to go. They way virtually nothing and can be flipped up out of the way in an instant. Because they are not a bog honking visor thing you will not get headaches or bang into the bench lights every five minutes and can quickly flip them to look at things away from the bench. The 4 dioptre lenses are perfect for me to be able to see tiny details either close up, or - when I am filming/streaming - well enough from a foot away that I can work without getting my head in shot all the time. Designed for fishing but perfect for any tiny hobby.

Helps for nail manicures and any other close up work.

This was purchased for my dad who has poor eyesight due to his age. But the item is not magnifying, it's just makes everything blurry

These are not the best clip on glasses that I have owned but they are ok. I bought them because it is difficult to get the ones I like and at the moment they are 'price scorchio'. There are no cleaning instructions on these so I used what I usually do, which is soap and water (which made them look a bit smeary) then a wipe down with alcohol (which made them completely white opaque and I thought they were gonners). So I don't know what happened but it may be a chemical reaction with a coating because with concerted effort of oiling, washing, alcohol wipes I managed to salvage them albeit in less than pristine condition. So I highly recommend no one uses the cleaning method that I did. The lenses (before I ruined them) looked crystal clear, but they are rather more chunky than the ones I like better for the same magnification and I feel they draw my eyes. The lenses are in one piece and attach by pegs going into the clip sideways across the bridge of the nose and I think this makes the lenses stable as there are no tiny screws holding them to the frame individuallywhich can work loose and allow a bit of a wobble. Then after two or three days they broke across the bridge of the nose. Sigh! So now they are glued together.

I use these for painting minute details on paint by numbers. Perfect. Easy to clip onto your glasses and easy to flip up for normal vision. I wouldn’t be without them now.

I dont think I will get any use from these, tried them with computer and reading glasses, with my reading glasses it was no help at all, as my glasses are much clearer, I did not see much magnifacation if any, in other words i would rather use my glasses as a stand alone On to computer I suppose to some people these will be worth having but unfortunatley not for me. They are at a price that I will write off, printer is on the blink, and to much hasstle to drive to a print return shop to send them back.

In my spare time I do art and build models so I do a lot of close-up, detailed work. My varifocals don't work at this close-up range and I have to keep lifting them up or resting them on my head which means I am either one hand short or they fall off my head when I move - which results in endless frustration. I ordered these and they clip onto my glasses and work a treat for close-up work. Now, I just flip them up and down and can use both hands and not worry about my glasses falling off my head. The lenses are plastic so would be cautious when cleaning, they could scratch easily and cleaning agents/solvents, designed to clean glass lenses, could damage them. I am only using them for my own hobbies, so did not want anything overly costly and these work a treat!

Be aware that this version (2x) focuses at around 18cm away (much closer than I was expecting). Not sure if the other versions are different... Edit: After watching the video I see that the three versions have different focal lengths and I needed the lower magnification version, it would have been nice if this had been included in the product description. These will be good for close up work though.

These work well, just what I was aiming for. Good, clear field of vision, easy to clip on my glasses. Seem quite sturdy.
