Devil Ball Face Angle Trainer - Perfect Your Putting

If you love golf and stink at putting these are for you. They are incredibly frustrating until you start hitting them squarely with the putter. Once you find yourself not being frustrated that’s it’s when you will know you are making improvements on your putting stroke. I really enjoy the immediate feedback these provide.

If you pair these with a putting mirror your putting will have no choice but to get better. It’s such a simple idea but the feedback you receive is incredible and paramount if you want to get better.

The Devil Ball works as intended but don't expect the feel and sound of a real ball. If you mishit whether its from face angle issues or from cutting across the ball (a putter slice/hook?), the ball reacts and rolls offline as intended. At 3 feet or closer it is not as effective especially if you normally hit it harder at this distance like you would to take the slope out when you're on the course. I currently use it at 6 ft and 8 ft to get the best results. If you are expecting this to sound and feel like a golf ball, this is not for you. The ball doesn't jump off the face like a real ball and it has a hard plastic sound. I've found drawing a 360 deg line on a ball or coloring half of the ball one color with a sharpie will tell you the same thing and still maintain feel and sound. This is still a fun addition to the indoor putting mat but curb your expectations low handicappers.

No matter how good of a putter that you may be....this item will test your patience. I have played few rounds yet so I don't know if it will actually help my putting.

I recently purchased the PuttOUT Devil Ball Face Angle Trainer and it has quickly become a valuable tool in my golf game. The design is simple yet effective, it helps me to improve the accuracy of my putts by training me to square the face at impact. I found the practice putting balls a little too frustrating to use. I was missing so many putts that I knew would go in the cup with a normal golf ball. While I think the concept is a good idea, I did not have the patience to stick with them. While others found them helpful, they are not for me.

This training aid is the truth. It addresses exactly what it's designed to address: the putter face angle at impact. On it's most difficult position, ANY deviation off 0 degrees will be apparent, and provides immediate feedback. It won't root out the cause of your misalignment at impact, (seek professional guidance if necessary), nor will it help much with pace, but if you're having issues with your putting it can provide a diagnostic tool that'll point you in the right direction to holing those pesky 5 footers. Fairways and greens.

The main issue with this training aid is if you are using it on the hardest/pro setup, it's too perfect for it's own good. Even with the setup aid, it may move just a little bit/may be on an uneven surface, and that can be all you need to send it awry even if it was a good put that would have hit flat on an actual putt. Keeping the alignment in place makes me want to hit it way too high as well, but that's a personal issue, I won't fault the product for that. So id say either make sure you have a pristine surface/be very careful when setting it up, or use set it up on one of the lesser difficulties below "pro" to account for any surface imperfections/wiggle while setting it up/etc. Outside of that quirk, these practice balls function great and are made with high quality. They don't roll the same as an actual ball, so when you practice with these, don't use them to judge your actual distances.

Now I know why it's called Devil Ball, this thing will frustrate you at first but it pushes you to make perfect putts, with time and practice you will make better putts. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Unlike the PuttOUT trainer, which I could literally use for hours at a time, this is not the sort of training aid that you would want to spend all day with. However, I find that it's very good for starting a practice session to make sure you have your face alignment nicely dialled in. Once you go back to using a regular ball it just seems so much easier. The training videos are useful for getting you up and running, although I haven't yet watched the later ones. I did not get three three 'difficulty settings' for Devil Ball until I watched the video. It does help though because used on the most difficult setting this is one very tricky training aid. It's addictive too, not quite like the original PuttOUT trainer was, but you will want to keep picking it up.
