General Finishes High Performance Water Based Topcoat, 1 Quart, Dead Flat

Love this sheen. I refinished an old round claw foot dining table that I stripped, bleached and wanted to keep the wood looking natural. I did not want it to darken or change color in any way. This top coat leaves the wood looking exactly as it was before applying it. Does darken a little at first but lightens beautifully. I applied with a foam paint brush covered with a nylon stocking footie and it applied perfectly.

Wonderful product. Leaves wood looking and almost feeling like wood, yet protects it. Ease to apply with a foam roller.

Strippped an old pine dining table in pretty rough shape (used Klean Strip, acetone, steel wool and sand paper-it was a beast) and found that I like the result. I wanted to keep it without yellowing, or shine added to it. Read quite a few articles singing the praises of this, so I used it. Worked great-brushed it on, sanded lightly in between 3 coats. It gets heavy use, and I think this stuff will hold up for a while!

Worked perfectly. Covered fairly easily, even on matte black paint. Definitely seems durable and time will tell.

If you’re looking for something that doesn’t disturb the under color, produces a really flat hardly no sheen, then this is it. Kinda expensive, but it does the job, then it doesn’t matter. I spray all my finishes, so I can’t say anything about brushing or rolling.

Perfect match and finish for a completely natural look. Needed to match some doors to the flooring and this is it. No sheen, just 1 tone darker.

I have used a couple of gallons of the Dead Flat on white oak and, while it looks like raw wood (which was my intent), it provides almost zero protection. My cabinets, drawers, and shelves that were triple coated with this have water stains, oil stains, etc. I have to redo everything to protect it. I do NOT recommend this product.

Definitely NOT a dead flat finish, maybe a tad under satin at best. But probably the best and certainly the dullest I’ve used.
