Excellent. Marks the wall or floor so you can drill accurately so much better than trying to use a pencil.

What can I possibly say about this remarkable device? Well, for years I have followed the traditional route when fitting shelves or attaching battens to walls. You drill a hole, offer the batten to the wall and ensure it is level and then you fiddle with an old screw pushed through the hole or a pencil with a very long and fragile lead hoping it won't snap before leaving its vital mark. It's all the more frustrating when, after marking any number of points you remove the batten only to discover most of them are invisible due to the wall surface which in the case of pebbledash resists almost all attempts to leave a clear and accurate mark for subsequent drilling. Then I discovered the Marxman Marx! Having drilled your holes in the batten and ensured it is in the correct position on the wall you just offer the conical tip of the marxman to the hole and, rather like an inhaler in principle, you give a little extra press. You do this for each and every hole and, when the batten is removed you see a series of accurately placed fluorescent green dots precisely aligned with the holes in your batten. You just drill on the green spot! It works equally well with ready made items such as shelf brackets or timber up to about 50mm. Thicker timbers can use the big brother version designed to cope with 100mm - and it does. I rate this little invention as being right up there with the likes of the Dyson which looked at an established method of doing something and came up with a better solution. No more stripping a biro so you can poke the nib down the hole. No more wierd trimming of pencils or peering at a wall like a mad person looking for tiny clues. The Marksman Marx really works and it is a brilliantly simple solution to an annoyingly common problem. You can see the original pitch on Dragons Den online and it's well worth a look. Personally, I think it is something everyone should have in their toolkit and I guarantee you will always find one in mine.

THE BEST TOOL FOR MARKING HOLES TO DRILL!!!!

A marxman is a spray chalk which allows you to mark up drill holes for DIY or work. I used the marxman for both and couldn’t recommend more and it is so easy to use. It comes in bright green chalk colour so you can see the chalk on all different surfaces. Only issue is that with using it everyday for work, it runs out very quickly so have to keep buying every 2 weeks which can be expensive. An alternative is deephole construction markers which i also recommend

Really handy idea. Struggled before on those fiddly just too thick for your pencil fittings. Although I dont use it a lot ,its part of my main tool box now.

Great product. I’ve seen this around for years and always thought what’s the big deal. It’s really simple but is super effective and much better than a long tip pencil/marker.

Game changer for marking where you need to drill.

I was surprised how well this marked. It shot straight through 4 inch concrete post holes to mark the timber clamped on to it. While the mark is a bit diffuse and not absolutly accurate it does mark where holes need to be. I allowed some give in the holes to allow for final positioning when tightening bolts. I would expect smaller holes that are less deep to render a more accurate mark. Worth keeping in the toolbox. Update after further purchase... Forget the bad reviews, how can this marker leave a bigger mark than the hole it is being shot through? Push (or clamp) the item with the holes against whatever you are attaching it to and shoot a blast of chalk in each hole. I sometimes do 2 shots to be sure. You will get a mark the size of the hole. What could be simpler? I now keep 2 (normal and deep) in my pencil drawer. This is my go to marker for matching holes for battens, posts etc. Yes, it's expensive, but it saves time and has been accurate for me, so saves on mistakes too.

Lovely little tool when the need arises. I have the deep markers, as well, but sometimes they're just not deep enough. This thing uses compressed gas to shoot a bright dust through the hole. Honestly, it's genius. Good job guys.

Nog maar 1x gebruikt maar werkt prima. Handig.
